Is for Thailand no?

Yeah I was looking for the old ranking https://d21c25674tgiqk.cloudfront.net/2020/07/AIBA-World-Ranking-WOMEN-final-202009.pdf

but it should be this one https://boxing.athlete365.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210318_Boxing_Road_To_Tokyo_Rankings.pdf

so I believe you are correct, it should be :THA instead of Vietnam

I only just found out that they cancelled the final qualifier. Does that mean that :GER is qualified in women's 57kg and men's +91kg regardless of how the European qualifier will go, because German boxers are the highest ranked Europeans in these disciplines?

not necessarily, this European Qualifier will award ranking points as well. it's probably unlikely but maybe someone finishes just outside the qualification zone but still collects enough pts to qualify via ranking. someone should do the math to see if that's even possible mathematically.

Wait, the London qualifier was cancelled? Nouchka Fontijn and Enrico Lacruz were going there for the Netherlands (with Fontijn definitely a favorite to qualify), does that mean they're both out of a chance to qualify or is the cancellation accompanied by some compensation?

Surely there is some alternative, since otherwise there'd be dozens of quota places without any allocation?

.

no. that one was moved to France (I mean the rest of the competition)

that was about the last chance worldwide qualifier , which got cancelled and they awarded the quotas based on the ranking. (1 for each continent in each weight)

Thanks, so Panama should be definitely in, and there is nobody behind them.

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
