6?  From whom?

Two for Kamminga, one for Kromowidjojo, one for Toussaint and two in open water.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

It's always amusing to see the predictions in gymnastics. You guys quickly go from pondered and rational in other sports to completely out of your minds in gymnastics. I kind of love seeing it lol.

1) Impressive that you can judge what rational predictions in all other sports are.

2) Which gymnastics predictions exactly in this thread aren’t rational?

I Predicted the entire Games and assuming the lack of accuracy (caused by ignorance ) in some sports, these are my results (or my gambles :d) for us:

Gold: 8
Silver: 7
Bronze: 7
Total: 22

It is certainly an optimistic result, but not too much. I tried to balance the "surprises" with the "disappointments" (plus ONE BIG DREAM with the Gold in Men's Water Polo :d)

-Athletics: 1 (optimistic)
-Canoeing: 5 (2 golds; realistic/underwhelming)
-Fencing: 3 (1 gold; realistic/optimistic)
-Judo: 1 (realistic)
-Modern Pentathlon: 1(optimistic)

-Sailing: 1 (realistic)

-Shooting: 1 (realistic but so difficult to predict)
-Swimming: 6 (3 golds; realistic)
-Water Polo: 1 gold (optimistic)

-Wrestling: 2 (1 gold; realistic)

Good chances: basketball, 3x3 basket, karate, tennis, volleyball, water polo

Between good and optimistic: judo, taekwondo, wrestling

Optimistic: athletics, canoeing, rowing, shooting

Now predicting 5 for Ireland

Gold for O’Donovan/McCarthy in lightweight double sculls in rowing

medals for Puspure in rowing, McClenaghan  in gymnastics and Harrington in boxing

Then 1 from good chances in rowing, boxing or  equestrian

Outside chances in hockey (if they 0-0 their way to a medal again), taekwondo, athletics (Barr), golf, cycling

:BRA

Athletics- 1
Beach Volleyball- 1
Boxing- 1
Canoeing- 1
Football- 1
Gymnastics- 2
Judo- 1
Sailing- 1
Skateboarding- 3 (optimistic)
Surfing- 1
Swimming- 1
Volleyball- 1

Total- 15 (3G, 4S, 8B)

1-Athletics

1-Gymnastics

1-Sailing

1-Shooting

1-Swimming

3-Others (more of the aforementioned sports, tennis, wrestling, fencing, karate, taekwondo, water polo, cycling, rowing, judo)

In athletics our best chances are Stefanidi and Tentoglou. Papachristou and Tzengko I think also have outside chances. I will say expecting 1 medal in athletics is a fair prediction for us.

In gymnastics, Petrounias is the defending Olympic champion. If he qualifies, he is Greece's best chance to win a medal in any sport. The only reason he hasn't qualified yet is because he missed one year due to injury. Especially with the Games being moved to 2021, he is in a good position now and probably back to his normal level.

In sailing, Mantis/Kagialis won bronze in Rio and I think got 4th at the last World Championships. Karachaliou is ranked 2 in the world and Kokkalanis was close to winning medals in 2012 and 2016. Between these three I think we should expect 1 medal in sailing.

In shooting, we obviously have Korakaki who won two medals in Rio and there is also Mavrommatis and Mitas in the men's skeet who are decent. Shooting is an unpredictable sport but I think it is fair to expect 1 medal from this sport.

In swimming, Gkolomeev is our best chance as he won silver at the 2019 World Championships. We also have Vazaios and Papastamos who are good and have improved a lot. I also think it is fair to expect 1 medal here.

Now for the rest we have some chances like tennis (Tsitsipas and Sakkari), fencing (Gkountoura), karate (Chatziliadou), taekwondo (Telikostoglou), wrestling (Prevolaraki), basketball, water polo, maybe someone in rowing or judo, cycling (Volikakis), or some other surprises in the other sports like sailing (Mitakis), athletics (Kyriakopoulou) etc.

It is hard to predict because we have a lot of people with chances but not many clear favourites. So I will say 8!

I guess I'll stick with my prediction of 8 for now. Probably sounds too optimistic but whatever. Of course if Petrounias doesn't qualify I will say 7.

Tentoglou looking like he has a better chance at winning a medal than Stefanidi at this point, but hopefully both can do it.

We don't have any clear medals in sailing but we have a few contenders and I feel like someone will come home with a medal.

And at this moment I think we have a better chance of getting a medal in tennis than we do in shooting.

I still think Gkolomeev will win a medal in the men's 50m freestyle.

I feel like karate it depends who qualifies this weekend. Wrestling I think Prevolaraki has a really good chance at getting a bronze or something, and I'm starting to think we might win a rowing medal in the men's single sculls with Stefanos Ntouskos.

If I had to predict our eight medals I would say:

Gold: Eleftherios Petrounias (gymnastics)

Silver: Kristian Gkolomeev (swimming)

Silver: Stefanos Ntouskos (rowing)

Silver: Miltiadis Tentoglou (long jump)

Silver: Stefanos Tsitsipas (tennis)

Bronze: Ekaterini Stefanidi (pole vault)

Bronze: Vasileia Karachaliou (sailing)

Bronze: Maria Prevolaraki (wrestling)

Of course I will probably be wrong. In London I thought we would win 6-7 medals and we won two. I thought we would win 3-4 in rowing including gold from Giazitzidou/Tsiavou but we just got bronze from them and no other rowing medals. Also thought Gianniotis would definitely win a medal in marathon swimming and he got 4th.

Then in Rio I thought we'd win 5-6 and we got 6. Didn't expect 3 gold though. I thought at most two (Petrounias and Stefanidi) but Korakaki surprised.

High everyone. Here are my projection for Turkish Olympic Team.

1)Vedat ALBAYRAK (JUDO-GOLD)

2)Busenaz SÜRMENELİ (BOXING-GOLD)

3)Rıza KAYAALP (WRESTLING-GOLD)

4)Taha AKGÜL (WRESTLING-SILVER)

5)Serap ÖZÇELİK (KARATE-SILVER)

6)Ferhat ARICAN (GYMNASTIC-SILVER)

7)Süleyman ATLI (WRESTLING-BRONZE)

8)İbrahim ÇOLAK (GYMNASTIC-BRONZE)

9)Busenaz ÇAKIROĞLU (BOXING-BRONZE)

10)Uğur AKTAŞ (KARATE-BRONZE)

11)Hatice Kübra İLGÜN (TAEKWONDO-BRONZE)

12)Muhammed Furkan ÖZBEK (WEIGHTLIFTING-BRONZE)

13)Ali SOFUOĞLU (KARATE-BRONZE)

14)WOMEN (VOLEYBOL-BRONZE)

I am looking forward to watch the rivalry between Petrounias and Colak..I think it will evoke us NAIM and VALERIOS.

Best wishes.
