That will change a lot after the European and American Championship. we only had Asian and African Champs so far this year. having this ranking is better than nothing but this is still new and doesn't show anything . don't take that serious.

Tonight's the night!

in a few hours, the main events of the "Beat The Streets" Wrestling Fest in New York will be on stage...

among those, an always interesting USA vs CUB freestyle team match (with a juicy Kyle Snyder vs Reineris Salas Perez in the -97kg class) and, above all, the big challenge: Jordan Burroughs vs Frank Chamizo Marquez (freestyle wrestling, -74kg class)...

here are some notes:

https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6202369-tech-notes-jordan-burroughs-vs-frank-chamizo

and here's tonight's full program:

https://www.flowrestling.org/events/6143852-2018-beat-the-streets/schedule

unfortunately, I only found this Flowrestling website's paid streaming to watch this event (and I'm not gonna give them 12+ dollars for a single exhibition show like this)...:facepalm::wall:

I hope tomorrow some free video will be uploaded here and there...

p.s. I did notice that there is also some space for the currently suspended (for doping) Togrul Asgarov, which is a shame for such an amazing event...:redcard::thumbdown:

and finally the big bout has happened...

and Jordan Burroughs won it by the minimum margin (6-5) thanks to a late comeback...

Chamizo started on fire and quickly went 4-0 up (the 3rd and 4th point came thanks to one of his wonderful trademark counters after Burroughs grabbed Frank's leg and looked to be in control of the action)...

then, when the American seemed to be in a lot of troubles, a stop to clean the mat was required...and after this couple of minutes break, JB started to find his rhythm and scored his first 2 points...

at the beginning of the second round, Chamizo started once again better than Burroughs and got his 5th point, but then he clearly gassed out and let the American too many leg grabs, 2 of which led him to score and take the lead with less than a minute to go...

Chamizo unfortunately didn't have much left in the tank and actually it was Burroughs to get closer to another couple of points than Frank getting a chance to score again...

final notice...the bout was heavily influenced by a very slippery mat...both guys weren't able keep their feet steady enough and this was a pity (and honestly I think it was more a problem for Chamizo and his attempts to counter Burroughs leg grabs)...

here you can see the full match for free (even if I don't know how long this video -clearly illegally recorded and shared- is going to stay on YT):

    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
