What happened to the two sides of a story theory...? :p

I've been talking to a few people who know swimming tonight.

Every single one of them is sympathetic to Katinka and say her husband is a horrible bully who she should have left years ago...

Obviously I don't know if that is true but it's interesting everyone had the same opinion...

Yeah, I'm not too surprised to head that. I remember cameras showing him quite a lot in Budapest last year (like, after every Katinka's race). Perhaps the reason I remember it well is because he didn't look like some super kind person, to say it mildly...

Be that as it may, I'm not much of a fan of people who decide to cheat. Better just end the relationship first..

Oh well, obviously we're not them, but this whole story smells of sadness on all sides.

Santo Condorelli is officially part of team Italy now (at least in the process of doing so). With that, the end of Canadian male swimming. Unreal how strong the women are and how weak the men are. 10-15 years ago it was the opposite

really a great meet indeed...

among others, great show by Adam Peaty in the men's quick breastroke (58 and a half over 100m and 26.41 over 50m -nobody outside him has ever swam a time like that) and wonderful fight between Pernille Blume and Sarah Sjostrom in the quick freestyle for the girls...

another amazing result is the 21.16 over 50m free for Ben Proud...

but overall almost all the races have been among the quickest in the world in this 2018 season so far...

and we had also a lot of very promising results for the Italian team (the new IR by Panziera in the 200m back with a low 2.07 clocking is really impressive, she would have won the bronze medal in Rio with such performance)...

now we have to wait and see if they can match all that in Glasgow next month, otherwise it would be another disappointing episode of which our swimming is full in its history...

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
