Well, I would disagree. Biathlon is about skiing/shooting combo.

Penalty loops are flat, so relatively speaking, women do not lose as much time to men compared to downhills and especially climbs.

So unless penalty loops are made bigger for women, skiing will become (even) more important than shooting.

Aside from being inconvenient, using different penalty loops will again bring up the distance inequality, so there is no reason to change it.

As for the individual, 1 min of penalty can be made up considerably more easily in a 55 min-race than in a 45 min-race.

Well, then they should adjust penalty loops to decrease disparity.

Very surprising result. Funny that silver and bronze went to nations with German coaches while the German team flopped again. Absolutely shocking performance by Lesser, if I wouldn’t know better, I would say that he tried to ski as slowly as possible. He made absolute scrubs look like prime Lars Berger. I think it would be best for him if he would just travel back home.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

US 12th with only 8 misses, they were slow today.  I think that the way Jake Brown has been skiing, he is not a bad replacement for Nordgren, but Reid for Dunklee gave us some ski speed.  Possibly kept them in the race shooting though, Dunklee can be erratic.

Haecki back up to her wild form.  People were wondering about Selina Gasparin instead of one of her sisters, but she shot clean while Hecki went 1+6.  Ouch.  Congrats to Austria for the silver.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
