Sports Climbing gets 2 events per gender and 34 quotas per gender :d

My guess is 16 in Speed, 18 in Combined Lead & Boulder

"Credibilitiy and use of technology" was officially cited as one of the reasons for the 50 km exlusion.

No surprise there. IAAF could have, and should have, done something in this regard.

there's another reason they cut the men's 50km race walk...

Alex Schwazer, after he basically won the process in Italy against him (the judge asked to retire any accusation against him), now is on the way back...

and I can only imagine the embarassment of IOC and WA should (when) they have to give him the gold medal after the next OG triumph...

they can only hope Italian and Swiss burocracy can hold him out from the Tokyo Games (it's gonna be difficult to qualify if he doesn't get reinstated very soon -and he still has to force IOC and WA to lift his 8-year ban -which was going to end before 2024...so, they solved the problem by cancelling the 50km race walk from Paris 2024 program)...

Sprint canoe only having 10 events will be weird. I have never liked the 200m events all that much so I am not sad about them going away, but I still don't get why K4 500m has to be a thing instead of the usual K4 1000m. For the love of God, change it back!

This mixed team is a fallacy. How does it give women more events when men are also competing? If you do not want to add athletes, you add events or transfer them over simple as that. Agenda 2020 although successful in some areas, this gender equality is not there. Women are not competing in some events, and men as well. That is not gender equality.

    • Colturi joined the Red Bull multi-kulti team actually    who wears Red Bull Hellera in Winter sports these days as well?
    • Ceccarelli wanted to take money from the federation and train daughter in her team. The federation didn`t want to agree to this, because we are talking about a 16-year-old girl at the time. Private teams have stars with recognized achievements, e.g. Brignone or Goggia (they also trained in junior teams at the age of 16). In my opinion, Ceccarelli could have collected money from private funds, after all, with such successes of her daughter it wouldn`t be a problem. Tina Maze also separated from Slovenia at some point and created her own team. In a situation in which Colturi would start to achieve successes, then the federation should start to finance her team more + private sponsors. For me it`s simple.
    • I think that It's a similar situation with Braahten in Norway but there are some differences:     - he's an adult, - his mother is Brazilian, - Norway has a lot of talent in technical events (although of course it's always better to have 1 more than 1 less).
    • Looks like the gate malfunctioned and Eriksen Sundal was literally pushed by the ad board
    • Well, we lived through Caroline Wozniacki representing Denmark and there was some talk if she could switch to Poland early on but she said no since she lived her entire life in Denmark anyway. But she was very popular here. On the other side Angelique Kerber who also has Polish ancestry actually lived in Poland on her grandfather's estate (which was a tennis academy). In the last few years except Eugenia Bujak (cycling) switching to Slovenia due to a conflict with the federation we don't really have such cases. I can understand many Italians have their opinion on Colturi & her mother alas it's boosted by the lack of other top end prospects in your skiing now (and some other winter sports). I'm surprised Italian journalists haven't figured out what's behind Colturi's switch already because it has to be money or "personal differences" either way.
    • Or is Girardelli respected in Austria these days...
    • We must ask our Austrian users if they cheered for Girardelii. But do we have any Austrian users LOL?
    • It's just that Austria had a lot of skiers in that time and we don't have any others among the young ones now.
    • Marco Girardelli went to Luxembourg one day and he had a great career. I doubt he did regret that move.
