After much deliberation I am happy to announce the Irish entrant for this year's TISC Open 2020.

 

Falling Slowly was featured in the Irish film Once (2007) and is written and composed by Glen Hansard and co-performed with Czech singer Markéta Irglová.

I am not joking, I was just listening to a couple of Oscar winning songs a few days ago, and I was thinking about who will submit Falling Slowly eventually for a TISC, Ireland or the Czech Republic. Well, I guess now I know.

I'm just glad that it wasn't my favourite song from them that was used against me

At least now I think I will finally watch Once. Somehow I never got around to watch that movie despite all the accolades it got. 

 

On a more important note: if Ireland beats Slovakia, does that mean CZE wins the Czechoslovak trophy by proxy?

I think I've listened to them for a good two to three years before I actually found out that there was a movie

Notes:

 

God* - here refers to peace as God is considered a symbol of piece irrespective of religion

 

hands dirty with blood* - killing people over religious beliefs / majority religious group dominating minority and vice versa  by killing etc

 

Riots* - communal riots mainly. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Summary 

 

The song cleverly starts with why faith is important to live on earth but questions people for fighting and creating violence over religious beliefs. 'Peace' is considered like god and maintaining peace is utmost important.It says everyone has their right to their own beliefs but  unity, harmony and especially peace is considered top priority  in life and one shouldn't impose their  religious ideologies on others.
