Wow, I knew Steve had been working well lately (the guy is an absolute unit in terms of size and power), but had no idea he'd compete in the World Cup :d

He does live in Switzerland though (not far from Davos even if I'm not mistaken).

Yeah, but in the slum part of Davos.  :raspberry:

Pardon me for perhaps asking something obvious, but how come for instance Norwegian biathlon team can compete without problems in Europe, but cross-country cannot? Is it up to federations (biathlon and cross-country), and not the country directive?

Norway is perfectly allowed to compete like other nations, their cross-country team just decided not to because having a decent preparation towards later parts of the season was deemed impossible for them with the constant quarantaine whenever travelling to another country.

It's a bit hard to compare it with biathlon, since the IBU has simply done a better job in having a good season in place, especially with the thing they have of two consecutive World Cups in one location, to lower the total amount of travelling back and forth.

It is up to the different federations.

and IBU has been much smatter planning the schedule, having two weeks at each venue to reduce travel.

That could be said for their alpine and jumping teams as well, but they are competing in a full schedule... It seems only the cross-country ones are with special needs.

Although there we are talking about sports where keeping distance is a whole lot easier.

Anyhow, I can understand the decision of those three nations especially in a sport where the athletes are living a far from healthy life already.

Yeah, our commentators were taking about how Brennen almost didn’t travel to Europe because of how poorly the FIS has handled Covid (though they seemed to imply that she thought they weren’t doing enough to keep people safe).

Two days Pellegrino hardly attack Norway and Klaebo: "The Norwegians have abandoned a plane where they were traveling in first class and which they built, forcing us to play by their rules. Kalebo never helped me in meetings with the FIS and all voted for individual points in the relay, excluding Russia."

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
    • Italy also has its own list, although of course not every injury is as terribile  in terms of medal losses. In winter sports have unfortunately much more injuries than summer sports. In the summer only: cycling, volleyball and football.     - Brignone: will return in January, - Tabanelli: will return for the Olympics, - Bassino: season over, - Marta Rossetti: season over, - Lara Malsinier: season over.
    • TNT staff expect they will offer it at a price similar to what they offering the Winter Olympics for rather than the full TNT price.   But equally the main coverage is apparently going to be very different to what they do for the Olympics (Which is less pundits and studio chat than the BBC) with speculation it might be based on NBC’s Olympic coverage with tons of human interest etc.
    • India Sherret (ski cross)   Another name to the ever-growing list of injuries for the Canadian team… used to be excited for the Olympics, now not so much…
    • Voted  Thank you for extending the deadline and allowing me to vote once my exams are over. @OlympicIRL
