100 days until the world championships.

Quote

“Nobody can say today how the situation will develop until the end of February. We are still optimistic, but realistic enough to take additional measures, plan the World Championships with a limited number of spectators and with a very valid hygiene concept”, Stern said in his address to the group.

I so badly hope that will come true :p

Can the Bruksvallarna races be seen anywhere? If so, I'll avoid the results until I've seen it. If not, I'll just look at the results :d

Meanwhile in Brazil, the national rollerski circuit is coming to a close these days, with today the first of five races in six days - a 5 and 10 kilometer freestyle mass start.

The women's win went to - who else - @brunamoura, who fought off Mika Picin basically the entire race. Mika accelerated, Bruna accelerated and on it went until the final climb was done and it was a dowhill followed by a flat with strong wind in the back, where Mika couldn't close the gap anymore. Third place for Duda Ribera.

The men's win went to Victor Santos, who will most likely be Brazil's male representative in the 2022 Olympics. In a final sprint, he beat Yuri Rocha and Chilean Yona Fernandez, also known as @Jesús. Interesting fifth place for one Wilbert Rodrigues, doesn't happen often that I've never heard of a top-5 finisher in these races.

Day two, classic sprints this time.

A very convincing victory for @brunamoura, who destroyed everyone (and her own PB) in the qualifying and then finished miles ahead of Duda Ribera and Tatah da Silva in the final.

The men's win went to Lucão Lima, after all these years he finally got his first sprint win! He narrowly beat out Yuri Rocha and Victor Santos, who kept the Chileans @Jesús and Martin Flores (a new name for me, he was fastest in qualifying!) out of the podium.

Next up: the 5 and 10 kilometers classic with individual start tomorrow.

Day three, classic interval start and the women's overall title has been decided with two races to go (Tuesday and Wednesday): @brunamoura convicingly won the race and with that the overall Brazilian Rollerski Circuit title for the 6th consecutive year :woohoo:

Bruna won the race with a big new PB, half a minute faster than last year when she was in more or less top shape, which she isn't yet now (focus is on the world championships). Second place for Mika Picin, third for Duda Ribera, a day after her 16th birthday.

@Jesús won the men's race with a twenty second margin over Yuri Rocha, whereas Victor Santos was a minute behind the Chilean.

Rest day tomorrow, then it's the final races of the rollerski circuit.

I'm coming to the conclusion that you might be a little obsessed with Bruna. ;)

    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
    • I didn't buy any tickets, but didn't get the e-mail.   We bought tickets on my wife's account (earlier timeslot), but not 12, and she got the e-mail.

    • I am very curious.  We got extremely lucky in the first ticket drop, both my and my wife's emails were selected for relatively early time slots-- early enough that we bought our full allotment of tickets for good stuff.  Not swimming or gymnastics of course, but we were really pleased,  d   But today I received an email on one of those accounts saying that we were entered into the second drop because we hadn't used up our 12 ticket allotment.  I went back and counted-- twice-- and yes, we certainly did purchase 12 tickets on that account.      I am not sure I want any more!  Did this happen to anybody else?
