:JPN 290 Q by Ranking

________________________________________

:KAZ 260 Q by Continental Spot (Asia)
:KOR 234
:VEN 232 Q by Continental Spot (Pan-America)
:EGY 207 Q by Continental Spot (Africa)

:SUI 191 Q by Continental Spot (Europe)
:CZE 183
:ESP 176
:GER 162

:NED 112
:COL 112
:POL 108
:ISR 113

Green = Mathematically Qualified

Damn it. :SUI just overtook :CZE ..... The team has been fighting for Olympic quota so long. Two times, they were very close and did not make the cut by few points. Please, don't tell me that for Paris will be the same. Last event in Rio, they will have to take a medal and hope Swiss won't make it to the semifinal. God bless them 💪💪

in the meantime, :ITA vs :JPN and :USA vs :FRA are the women's Team Foil semifinals

for what concerns the Olympic Qualification, nothing's gonna change from the previous ranking (:POL will finish ahead of :GER in Today's event, so they are qualified to the Olympics with the European spot, which was the only question still open until a couple of hours ago) and therefore we have the "Olympic 8":

:ITA Italy (World Ranking)

:USA United States (World Ranking)

:FRA France (World Ranking)

:JPN Japan (World Ranking)

:CAN Canada (Panamerican spot)

:CHN China (Asian spot)

:POL Poland (European spot)

:EGY Egypt (African spot)

finally, we can also say that the top 4 seeds right now will also be the top 4 seeds in Paris, as there's a huge gap between :JPN and :CAN, which is highly unlikey to be cut down from Today till the start of the Games

and individual ?

at a first quick look, nothing has changed among the men

so, it's :HUN Daniel Dosa and :ESP Carlos Llavador for Europe (the Spaniard should have saved a 1-point margin over :CZE Choupenitch)

then, :HKG Cheung Ka Long and :KOR Ha Taegyu in Asia, :BRA Guilherme Toldo in the Americas and :ALG Salim Heroui in Africa

the women, later...

total domination by :ITA (men) and :USA (women), even the GMM wasn't even close to a competitive match

and the same 3 teams on the podium in both competitions, a huge gap is developing between those 3 Nations and the rest of the field...not sure that's good for the sport, though :mumble:
