Which Sports Events are you Currently Watching?

Time for my usual calendar rant... It appears the holy week in February is 12-18th, when we have the Swimming Worlds, the Biathlon Worlds, the Weightlifting Euro and the Wrestling Euro. And to be more "fun" all of their evening sessions are someway colliding in the 18:00-20:30 (BG) timeframe or so.

 

It can't be the week prior, or the week after, no, everything has to be in this exact week. UWW and EWF are doing this a second year in-a-row, as if they are in cahoots.

Here’s my day by day schedule for this week:

 

Again these times could be a bit off. Great prep for Paris where I’ll be switching between approximately 15 streams all at once  

 

I don’t know how I do it to be honest. I’m normally tired when I wake up (not really a good thing), as my sports schedule is quite packed, but I’d rather get less sleep than miss out on some of my favourite events live (not recommending it though)

February 8

1:00- 2:25 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Women’s Waterpolo Group Stage - Canada v. Italy

3:00-4:45: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Artistic Swimming - Duet Free Finals

10:00 AM- 12:00 PM: Women’s FIBA Basketball Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Canada v. Hungary

3:00-5:00 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Artistic Swimming - Team Free Final

6:30-8:30 AM: Women’s FIBA Basketball Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Canada v. Spain

7:32- 9:32 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Diving - Women’s 3m Springboard

11:15 AM- 2:45 PM: Athletics- Meeting Indoor De Lyon

 

February 9-10

11:00 PM- 1:00 AM: FIS Ski Cross WC Bakurani

 

February 10

4:32-8:32 AM: ISU Short Track Speed Skating WC Dresde (skipping the last hour of it, Olympic qualifiers hold more importance to me)

7:32- 9:32 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Diving - Men’s 10m Platform

10:00 AM- 1:00 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Red Wings

Right after: Lieven Indoor Meeting (WA Indoor Tour Gold)

6:00- 9:00 PM: FIS Snowboard Halfpipe WC Calgary

 

February 11

4:00-6:30 AM: Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi Volleyball - Türk Hava Yolları v. Nilufer Bld (although for my sake I hope THY can get it done quicker) 

6:00-8:00 AM: Women’s FIBA Basketball Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Canada v. Japan

8:00-10:45 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Swimming - Day 1 Finals (I’ll probably skip the last 15 minutes of it)

10:30 AM-1:30 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Capitals

 

February 12

8:00-10:45 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Swimming - Day 2 Finals

 

February 13

8:00-10:45 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Swimming - Day 3 Finals

5:30- 8:30 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Blackhawks

 

February 14

12:00- 2:00 AM: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- High Diving - Women’s 20km

8:00- 10:45: Doha 2024 World Aquatic Championships- Swimming - Day 4 Finals

 

Also Canada’s women’s waterpolo team matches, but the schedule for the knockout round has yet to be determined.

Concacaf Women's Gold Cup tonight. Watched Paraguay upset Costa Rica with a pace change in 2nd half and right now crowed supported El Salvador tries to get something out of their match against Canada in Group C fixture in Houston .

 

PS: Canada only needed a few minutes while I post this, to increase its advantage to 3-0 so I guess no more a contest this match.

Concacaf Women Gold Cup quarter finals and Pakistan Super League cricket for me this weekend. 

Rest of the time needed for 😴 so I pretty much missed anything else.

I haven't had much time at home the past few weekends, but this weekend was a great weekend for some sport viewing: Strade Bianche, World Championship Indoor Athletics  and PSV-Feyenoord!

 

Looking forward to (highlights from) the first Beach Pro Tour tournament next week, and mostly the week after: Borussia Dortmund - PSV, World Championship Shorttrack, Milan - San Remo and handball champions league (highlights).

this week my picks have been Athletics (Indoor Worlds), Shooting (10m European Champs), Fencing (M+W Sabre World Cup tournaments), Judo (Tashkent Grand Slam) and some Wintersports (Biathlon and Alpine Skiing above all)

 

unfortunately I didn't save enough time to follow as much Hockey as usual (and as I would have liked)

all Canucks games (NHL), Canadian bouts at the World Boxing Olympic Qualifier, Wheelchair Curling World Championships (all Canadian/medal matches), Club volleyball, Brier (Canadian Men’s Curling Championships), WST Street Dubai, BWF French Open, ATP/WTA Indian Wells, ISU Speed Skating Single Distance Championships, TYR Pro Swim Series Westmont, FIVB Doha Elite16, and finally the FIS Aerials/Moguls/Dual Moguls/Snowboard Cross WCs.

this week for me: Swimming (Italian Spring Nationals), Speedskating (Sprint and All-Round World Champs), Biathlon and Alpine Skiing World Cup events, Boxing and Taekwondo Olympic qualifiers and Fencing World Cup

and we'll see if I can find some space for a bit of Hockey (NHL and European Leagues playoffs)?
