as a consequence, some great news for the Italian hockey fans (but not for my wallet )...NHL.tv is back with all of its content also for us :cheer:

back in topic...

in a few minutes, I'm going to watch the DL meet (athletics) from Montecarlo (a bit time-shifted)

Nah, strictly speaking Monaco athletics comes from the poverty- & crime-ridden banlieu of Fontvielle, not the luxury suburb of Monte Carlo.

here in Italy, you have to say always Montecarlo in any case...if you say Monaco, all the people will think of Munich (which in Italian is Monaco)

Doing my best to watch matches/events from the Women’s World Cup, Tour De France Femmes, EYOF, and World Aquatics Championships. Time zones haven’t been too kind on the first and latter. Australia generally isn’t a terrible time zone for California, but they’ve managed to schedule most of the matches from 23:00 - 05:00 my time :(

I’m looking forward to the Jeux de la Francophonie and Summer University Games (even with withdrawals affecting both events), but those will also be a bit rough for me time zone wise.

for me it's only about Swimming, Fencing, a bit of MLB Baseball and maybe some Judo

Today I just got one year older and I'm too tired to follow the same amount of events of the past :old: :pope: :roflmao:

Now that the Aquatics and Fencing Worlds are done, what are the next big events to follow before the Athletics Worlds?

I am guessing the Cycling Worlds will be the #1 event of the first half of August and the Sailing Worlds will be a huge event in terms of direct Olympic quotas. I don't care about the Archery and Sport Climbing Worlds, but I am sure many of you will watch those as well. We also got the Judo Masters coming up in Budapest this weekend which will hand out some very important world ranking points.

    • Yes, she was unlucky, but it could just as easily have happened during some training, like with Gut, etc. Brignone has been essentially injury-free throughout her long career, which is very rare in this sport. It's unfortunate that this happened after her best season ever and just 1 year before the Olympic Games in home, when she just missing of win the Olympic gold medal in her great career. With the gold in Cortina, she would have become a legend of Italian skiing, on par with Tomba. Now she's still the best Italian woman in history, but the miss of Olympic gold will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.
    • It sad to see this season, as I remember, that Fede last year was winning everywhere, when she competed and finished and now we haven't even managed a single podium in the giant slalom, and it'll probably stay that way until the end of the season. Without Fede and Bassino, unfortunately, we're out of good cards in this event. For me Goggia should probably skip the giant slalom at all, becouse she has no chance of a podium and she risks further injuries. If even Goggia finish 8th or 10th? What difference does it make? If she couldn't get a podium finish today with so many DNFs at the top skiers, she probably never do. Della Mea is OK this year, but let's be honest, she's not World Cup podium material. Overall, it's a sad picture, and we have a 0% chance of anything in Cortina unless a miracle happens in Brignone return.   We have two chances for Goggia in DH and SG + maybe a dark horse in Pirovano/Curtoni in SG. That's all. In technical events, we have a 0% chance of medaling, and that's sad. Our federation also lost Colturi in this situation... In any normal country, the head of such a federation should be dismissed for disciplinary reasons and this case should be investigated by the minister, or even the prime minister, but not in Italy...
    • Mikaela Shiffrin  off the podium today (Edit: Oops...I thought this was slalom, not Giant Slalom.).  Nina Astner  entered the 2nd run in 30th place, but had the best second run, jumping up 18 places to 12th.
    • Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel with a 5th place PB in Semmering GS!
    • Today RDC will defeat Senegal  and Tunisia 0-0 Nigeria
