Most current mma fans have started out with K-1 & kickboxing rather than boxing. Netherlands (or Surinam & Curacao  ) have always had a strong presence in K-1 so it should be popular with mma now. Alistair Overeem is still in UFC :p Bonjasky used to be my favorite K-1 fighter back in the vintage days :cheer:

And Morocco, although it's good a criminal like Badr Hari represents Morocco and not the Netherlands (where he's born and raised like most Moroccan kickboxers) :p

Indonesian National Games postponed to October 2021

Are those a “big” deal in Indonesia (meaning people care about them or watch them)?

Yes for the core sports like football, badminton, and volleyball. Opening ceremony also attracts a big crowd. Other events you are most likely to see students brought out from their schools to fill the seats.

It's more a political achievements for governors rather than an athlete development event nowadays. A vicious cycle: Win a bid > Build a sport complex far from the actual city > Hold the Games > Venues abandoned > Governor or his staff arrested for bidding bribe/corruption on venues

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
