Honnestly really happy for them. :UZB has gotten so close so often to qualifying to the world cup, the Olympics is obviously not the same, but they really deserve to qualify in this sport.

despite having the best team of the competition and playing against the weakest possible opponent in the semifinal, Uzbeks were about to choke once again, Indonesia scored few minutes before Uzbekistan's first goal. but the VAR cancelled it for a bogus offside call.  that would have changed everything

with :UZB and :JPN already qualified to the Gold Medal Game, now we also have a clear picture of the Olympic Tournament

winner of GMM between :JPN and :UZB will be "AFC 1" and will play in Group D with :PAR:MLI and :ISR

loser of the GMM is "AFC 2" and will play in Group C with :ESP:EGY and :DOM

whoever wins the 3rd place match in Doha will be "AFC 3" and will play in Group B with :ARG:MAR and :UKR, meanwhile the loser of that match will play the AFC vs CAN playoff match vs :GUI (and the winner of that match will play in group A with :FRA:USA and :NZL)

:JPN is sure to be "AFC 1", so they will play in Group D with :PAR:MLI and :ISR

Our media are not so sure. They say that :JPN and :IRQ will have higher rankings than other 2 teams. So :UKR cannot face them in the group.

Still do not know if they are right that the IOC is taking into account not only the latest Olympic tournament for the rankings.

The winner of the final between Japan and Uzbekistan will slot into Group D at Paris 2024, featuring Paraguay, Mali and Israel, while the runner-up will join Spain, Egypt and the Dominican Republic in Group C

so, all the criteria previously indicated were bullshit

it's just about this tournament (as it should be), the winner is AFC1 and so on

no 2020 nor other dirty moves...

Yeah, now that there's no risk of a team boycotting their match against Israel (at least until the knockout stage) there's no need to create a crazy system to avoid an uncomfortable match-up.
