OlympicsFan 783 Posted September 10, 2023 #341 Share Posted September 10, 2023 Really interesting split in endurance sports. GB and the Netherlands super strong while New Zealand and Germany fell off. Germany should up their doping program or cut their funding for endurance sports and focus on more technical sports. Trying to compete in endurance sports without doping is like going to a war with nothing but slingshots. Noorderling29 108 Posted September 10, 2023 #342 Share Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) Germany’s pretty succesfull in endurance swimming events. Perhaps the German doping authorities have overlooked those athletes? There is of course an alternative explanation to the one you keep hinting at. Possibly the German Rowing Federation is just not very good. Edited September 10, 2023 by Noorderling29 Jinzha

Got a world champion in olympic class boat as well. Yes, it was less bad than feared, particularly because many of these crews were young athletes. Of course it's far from what German Rowing aspires to be, but miracles weren't to be expected. Hopefully, they will improve in the upcoming years. Jinzha 529 Posted September 10, 2023 #344 Share Posted September 10, 2023 So Finn Florijn (M4x) and Karolien Florijn (W1x) are both world champions. Imagine if they repeat this incredible achievement in Paris, has there ever been a family where father (Ronald Florijn, gold in Seoul 1988 and Atlanta 1996), son and sister are all Olympic champions? Very historic world championship for all around. It is starting to feel normal how dominant the Dutch rowers are, but after so many silvers and bronzes I have to keep reminding myself that a gold medal in rowing is still not an easy feat at all. maestro, Josh, Adriano and 1 other

It will probably all come to very little in Paris next year. Edited September 10, 2023 by Noorderling29
