What will each Individual Swimming Final look like at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships?   Since the psych sheets haven't come out yet, I've gathered the top 8 times of athletes from the

I think Kamminga is still our biggest chance for an Olympic swimming medal. After Qin and Peaty will be a bronze medal left (would be life changing or Kamminga who is used to win silver always).

 

I'm a big fan of Schouten, but with ridiculous Chikunova competing next year again, I fear there is only a place for her outside the podium. For Steenbergen it will be very hard as well. She still has to improve a lot to compete with Jack, O'Callaghan, Haughey and especially Sjöström next year.

 

But today was incredibly good for the Dutch! I enjoyed every minute of it.

I think Kamminga will be too old, he was already slower this year than he used to be. This year he was lucky that the level wasn't too high. Especially Martinenghi wasn't at his best. I don't see Peaty competing next year. I think it will be Qin for gold next year and then two younger guys (Martinenghi + X) for silver and bronze. Steenbergen is on a very good trajectory, currently i would only favor O'Callaghan and the second australian (Jack) over her. Schouten could win 2 golds or nothing at all (if Chikunov will (hopefully) still be banned). The 200 breast field looks much weaker right now.

Crazy that O'Callaghan has more golds than the US. Marchand and Qin both have as many golds (relays excluded) as the whole american team (relays included). Also Tunisia (Hafanoui) and South Africa (Schoenmaker) both with as many medals as Germany and South Korea combined. The Cayman Islands (Crooks) and Hong Kong (Haughey) both with as many individual finals as Spain.

I think this is only for Swimming, not the whole Aquatics championships.

 

Btw, :CHN is leading the Aquatics championships with 34 medals and 20 golds (!) (although :USA with 31 medals will maybe surpass them in totals).

      yeah I know    I mean it wasn't a different team specific for that sport. it was the same CC team participating in both sports.

      from what I heard , Iran has registered to participate in Alpine, CC skiing, SkiMo, Skating (they didn't mention which discipline ) and ... (this one will be surprising ) ... Curling    Curling is not a sure thing yet, the NOC has to approve it. the team is very new. I mean very very new, only few months ago they gathered few people to start the sport  you can't lose 100-0 in Curling, right ?    anyway it will be first time ever Iran participating outside of FIS disciplines. ( I didn't count Ski orienteering in 2011 which was the same as CC)   nobody cares about winter sports here. therefore finishing last won't have consequences. they can afford sending very weak teams. (which is not the case for the main Asian Games)

      11 medals out of 15 athletes. for whatever reason  we sent an incomplete team of 16 athletes (only 1 left for tomorrow) I wish I knew why  I can guess though   the result is indeed very good in such a competitive sport but lack of talent was never our problem in taekwondo. it was always there probably much more than any other country.    but the problem is the transition to the senior team. most of previous junior world champions never even made the senior team. (the new federation is doing better in this regard though)

      I actually feel like it has the potential to be good change. The new brand identities might open up more possibilities for merchandise. I also think the ISU could create a compelling team standings competition similar to the constructors cup in F1.   Plus, it might add a degree of “apolitical-ness” to the top level international short track, during a time where that’s been a hot topic in international sports (in general).    Maybe it won’t work at all, but I’m open to seeing where the ISU go with this.
