Olympian1010 7,659 Posted August 15, 2022 #22 Share Posted August 15, 2022 It is surprising what a difference 50m can make. It doesn’t seem like a lot in my head, but it clearly creates a track with completely different characteristics. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. You need straights for overtaking, very difficult to get over the top on a bend where by definition the man on the outside is taking the longer line. Werloc 3,151 Posted August 15, 2022 #24 Share Posted August 15, 2022 With Krupeckaitė retiring, it seems that we are barely clinging to being somewhat competitive in this event. I just hope track-cycling doesn't die here in Lithuania, because we have so many good memories from this event.

Quite some athletes said they'd rather not race there simply due to them not trusting the safety of this track, and considering the large amount of very serious crashes they might not have been wrong... OK, the final stint was really messy because only 6 teams were good enough, but it's beginning to look like a true deserving race for what concerns the top teams... and for sure it was highly entertaining (even if the tv director should be someone who understand a bit of cycling)...
