Who would have thought that neither Norway nor France would win a medal? Also an interesting thought i just had: Laura Dahlmeier would have been younger at the 2026 olympics than Denise Herrmann is now. Overall 2 medals seems like a fair result for Germany, the only hope that it will get better in 2026 is Selina Grotian. That’s the question German biathlon fans need to ask. Why did Neuner & Dahlmeier retire early, at the height of their skill? Was something wrong in the team that drove them away?

That seems highly unlikely imo (just watched the race now). The downhills are way too easy on this course to cause some serious accident. #banbestmen

Both Neuner and Dahlmeier were hyped to the max since their early World Cup days. And yes, this is really a question especially the media should be asked (ofc, they don't )

Swiss Olympic is reassuring about the state of health of Irene Cadurisch (30 years old): “She is back in the Olympic village, her circulatory problems are under control, and she is better. From now on, disappointment prevails." our broadcasters explained that because they saw her on the stretcher talking with the doctor seemingly in pain for a physical injury rather than collapsed like Tandrevold the previous race... of course they're not even on site, so they misread the real situation... dcro 10,182 Posted February 16, 2022 #745 Share Posted February 16, 2022 At any rate, hopefully something will be learnt from all this. Maximum altitude has to be capped for endurance events. Especially if there are other risk factors involved such as extreme low temperature, low humidity. #banbestmen

Better than our guy who thought it was Häcki on the ground, when she was shown just a few seconds before running from the exchange area. phelps

South American biathlon and cross-country championships in 2500+ meters Portillo are laughing at your suggestion Spoiler Obviously you're right though. heywoodu 13,562 Posted February 17, 2022 #749 Share Posted February 17, 2022 Whatever it was exactly, it definitely was a scary moment. Biathlon simply isn't a sport where you see people down on the ground that often, other than relatively minor falls where people get back up quickly. Hopefully Cadurisch will be checked well, but I have no doubt she will. And Anna Weidel being Anna Weidel, comforting Cadurisch while she was being attended to. If the doctors allow her to compete despite those red flags then then altitude of the course doesn't have anything to do with it. Of course it's Norway where almost everyone has asthma yet is allowed to compete in endurance sports with TUE rescue. That is a bigger issue but obviously it's the altitude problem. Yeah, right... Moreover most of these biathletes come from high altitude regions anyway? They should be best suited for this altitude by default
