Kristjan Čeh and Kanter part ways. This is the 2nd time that Čeh has "lost" his coach in an Olympic season. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't medal again.

2-year cycle worked. There is no need to have worlds every year. As some said already it devalues the whole thing. What world athletics should have done is revamp the whole diamond, golden, silver, bronze league system.

Ideas like these just devaluate the titles and competition in other events because of competition inflation. It's happening in all of the sports, but nowhere does more competition actually lead to happier athletes or happier spectators I feel...

basketball legend Dimitra Zaponidou passed away at 89 yo
She was the first captain of our women's national team. A great player for Greece in an era where it was almost unheard of for women to be playing basketball in our country. A lot of people believe she lived in the wrong country and that in another life she would've been a big name in the basketball world.
This is a news report about her death. You don't need to speak Greek to see what a treasure she was, the video of her dribbling the ball and reminiscing on her career/younger days

FireRun reacted to JoshMartini007 in Men's Handball EHF European Championship 2024
are already qualified to the Olympics
are in the OQT as a World Team. could qualify to the Olympics as the top European team, but if they don't then they will compete at the OQT as a World Team
is eliminated from Olympic contention.
can qualify to the OQT (as a World Team) as long as Austria does not get the European quota or Egypt wins the African quota. They cannot qualify to the OQT as a European Team
could still qualify to the Olympics. They will need to defeat Iceland, Germany needs to lose to Croatia and then finish higher than Sweden. Austria will qualify to the OQT as a European Team with a win over Iceland. A draw is possible if one of Portugal or Slovenia draws or losses their match or Slovenia qualifies to the OQT as a World Team.
will qualify to the OQT as a European Team if they defeat Austria by 15 goals. They could also qualify with a lesser win, but requires Portugal or Slovenia to lose their match and for Iceland to have a better goal differential (at most they would need a 6 goal win) or Slovenia qualifying to the OQT as a World Team.
will qualify to the OQT as a European Team with a win over the Netherlands. They can also qualify if they get equal points as Slovenia (both draw or both lose). If Slovenia gets more points, but also qualifies to the OQT as a World Team or Austria wins the European quota then Portugal will qualify.
will qualify to the OQT as a World Team if Austria does not get the European quota and Egypt wins the African quota. If not, Slovenia can qualify to the OQT as a European Team if they finish with more points than Portugal. Additionally, if Iceland > Austria then they can qualify with a win, draw or a loss depending on goal differential or if Austria wins the European quota.
Overall Austria/Iceland likely determines one European OQT spot while Portugal is in pole position for the other, especially when you consider Portugal's and Slovenia's final opponents and that Slovenia has a decent chance at getting the World Team OQT spot. Still, Denmark has nothing to play for in the final match so Slovenia getting an upset is not impossible.

Well, even under the shadow of sadness and disappointing nightmare, it must be said that the atmosphere in Jasná is still amazing, and this country despite all the problems it have and despite being run by terrible, terrible... but really terrible politicians deserve to host sport events more regularly than each 3-4 years
Imagine all this people now have to watch and cheer the rest of the race despite broken hearts. Thumbs up !

FireRun got a reaction from maestro in Biathlon IBU World Cup 2023 - 2024
To be fair I think there are at least 10 nations that can medal in the single mixed relay. This season we finished 5s of the podium. Last year I think Latvia finished 3rd in one of the races. Swiss always do well, Austria won silver last season... It's much more competitive than say Mixed Relay or normal relays.

First training sessions in Jasná. Apart Vlhová, Dubovská, Leona Popovic and Zrinka Ljutic and team trained this weekend in the Jasná slope
Despite the whole wekkend is already sold out for a couple of weeks, the organizers added today some 400 new special tickets which were also sold in few minutes
FIS made yesterday their mandatory control which ended successfully and the Jasná stage has now green light
