Sorry for perhaps a silly question, still a bit of a newbie about cross-country skiing, but what's with giving points for sprint in 30/50 km races?

I'm not completely sure, but I guess it's about trying to prevent a boring race where it's just a bunch staying together.

If I'm not mistaken there's some sort of bonus for the athlete who gets the most points (not sure if that's in one race or throughout the season though).

Thanks, it does sound a bit reasonable, though not sure how much more excitement they bring to the race.

 

Didn't miss them a bit at Olympics!
