Just saw the schedule and got a tad bit confused.

 

Team Challenge result progress is only going to happen only after the breaks between sessions, because nobody from our team fits into the 1st session?

Well, it depends on the format used.

If the format is based around the team rotation (relay, elimination, KO tournament), then yes, exchanges/eliminations would happen during sessions themselves. It could make things more difficult to follow.

 

So, depending on the format, it could be more ideal to have 9 - 9 (or 10) - 9 (or 10) - 9 juries per session.

Today we will introduce just one team, the team is....

 

Malbork Knights

 

 

The team consists of four countries

 

•  Spain 12
•  Slovakia
•  Sweden
•  Hungary

 

We will not mention too much about them, it's no time for that  Instead I will show you a video where you can watch a "battle" from annual (since 1999) event which takes place in Malbork, during which battles between Polish Knights and Lithuanian Knights against Teutonic Knights are reconstructed.

 

 

As you can guess the base of the team knights is town of Malbork.

 

 

Malbork is a town in northern Poland, within the historical region of Pomerelia. Situated in the Pomeranian Voivodeship since 1999. Founded in the 13th century by the Knights of the Teutonic Order, the town is noted for its medieval Malbork Castle, built in the 13th Century as the Order's headquarters, which was also the seat of the early modern Polish province of Royal Prussia.

 

The main attraction is The Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork (Zamek w Malborku in Polish) is a 13th-century Teutonic castle and fortress located in that town.. It is the largest castle in the world measured by land area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

 

It was originally constructed by the Teutonic Knights, a German Catholic religious order of crusaders, in a form of an Ordensburg fortress. The Order named it Marienburg in honour of Mary, mother of Jesus. In 1457, during the Thirteen Years’ War, it was sold by the Bohemian mercenaries to King Casimir IV of Poland in lieu of indemnities and it since served as one of the several Polish royal residences and the seat of Polish offices and institutions.

The castle is a classic example of a medieval fortress and, on its completion in 1406, was the world's largest brick castle. UNESCO designated the "Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork" and the Malbork Castle Museum a World Heritage Site in December 1997. It is one of two World Heritage Sites in the region (north-central Poland), together with the "Medieval Town of Toruń", which was founded in 1231.

 

Malbork Castle is also of course one of well known Monuments of History, as designated on 16 September 1994.

 

 

In 1466 both castle and town became part of the Polish Malbork Voivodeship in the province of Royal Prussia. Since 1457 it served as one of the several Polish royal residences, fulfilling this function for over 300 years (over twice as long as it was headquarters of the Teutonic Order) until the Partitions of Poland in 1772. During this period the Tall Castle served as the castle's supply storehouse, while the Great Refectory was a place for balls, feasts, and other royal events. Polish Kings often stayed in the castle, especially when travelling to the nearby city of Gdańsk/Danzig. Local Polish officials resided in the castle. From 1568 the castle housed the Polish Admiralty (Komisja Morska) and in 1584 one of the Polish Royal Mints was established here. Also, the largest arsenal of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth was located in the castle. By the decision of King John II Casimir Vasa of 1652, Jesuits took care of the castle chapels of Mary and St. Anne.

During the Thirty Years' War, in 1626 and 1629 Swedish forces occupied the castle. Then the castle was visited by Swedish kings Gustav Adolf (in 1626) and Charles X Gustav (in 1656).

 

 

At the conclusion of the World War II, the city of Malbork and the castle became again part of Poland. The castle has been mostly reconstructed, with restoration ongoing since 1962 following a fire in 1959 which caused further damage. A significant recent restorative effort was of the main church in the castle (i.e., The Blessed Virgin Mary Church). After being restored just before World War II and then destroyed in battle, it was in a state of disrepair until a new restoration was completed in April 2016. In 1961 the Castle Museum was founded and in 1965 an amber exhibition was opened. Malbork Castle remains the largest brick complex in Europe.

 

 

Other attraction is Malbork Town Hall, the historic town hall in Malbork, was erected in the years 1365-1380 in the Gothic style, in the place of an earlier building. Reconstructed at the end of the 15th century (after the destruction suffered in 1457-1460, during the Thirteen Years' War) and in 1901 (after the fire of the town on July 26, 1899) by Conrad Steinbrecht. Built on a rectangular plan, with a basement, two-storey. It has a gable roof with two decorative gables and a turret in the center of the ridge. The roof, destroyed in the fire of 1899, was rebuilt by Bernhard Schmid, who placed a cross, a ball and a flag with the date 1686 on the turret. In the cellars with gothic vaults from the nineteenth century there was a restaurant "Ratskeller", with the Paul von Hindenburg memorial chamber opened in 1925 on the initiative of the mayor. Until 1919, the building served the needs of the municipal government, and after its transfer to the New Town Hall, some of the rooms were used by the police. Currently, the Town Hall houses the Town House of Culture "Ratusz". There are spacious arcades in the lower storey, and pointed recesses with windows in the upper storey. The walls are decorated with battlements, in the corners there are overhanging turrets and decorative gables. There is a neo-gothic lantern on the roof

 

 

On May 30, 1926, the fountain of the Strzelecki Brotherhood was unveiled in front of the town hall. The bronze figure of the shooter was made by Walter Rosenberg from Królewiec, and the stone pedestal was made by the local stonemason Hermann Still. 

 

Worth to see is also Mariacka Gate (Brama Mariacka in Polish), a historic city gate, built in the 14th century in the Gothic style. It has been listed in the register of monuments since 1948. In 1838, a fire consumed the original gate top, which was replaced with a characteristic half-timbered superstructure. At the turn of 1936/1937, the roof was reconstructed according to the design of the master builder Paul Dombert. The turret was demolished and the gate was covered with a hipped roof with battlement. The clock was placed in a decorative battlement

Any ideas for what we do with the wildcard for the team event? The Gingerbreads were the lucky team to be drawn the wildcard but how should it work? Preferably without offering too huge an advantage while giving some kind of benefit.
