  1. Thread bump! Mexico has two bronze medals so far: Luis Álvarez / Alejandra Valencia in mixed team archery. Gabriela Agúndez / Alejandra Orozco in women's synchronized 10 m diving. The women's softball team finished 4th, with wins over Italy (5-0) and Australia (4-1), and defeats over United States (2-0), Japan (3-2) and Canada (4-0 & 3-2).
  2. Thread bump! At the Tokyo Olympics, Luis Javier Mosquera got the silver medal at 67 kg weightlifting, just 1 kg behind Chen Lijun. In BMX racing, Mariana Pajón couldn't get her third gold medal, and was silver by 0.1 seconds. Carlos Ramírez repeated a bronze medal.
  3. You are likely not to get any gold medal, am I right?
  4. In swimming, Enzo Martínez did 22.52 at the 50 m freestyle, just 0.08 seconds off his national record.
  5. In judo, Mikael Aprahamian lost in round of 32 to Robin Pacek in golden time. In sailing, Lola Moreira finished 22nd, with a best result of 10th at the 9th regatta. Defazzio/Knüppel have also had poor results so far.
  6. In rowing, Cetraro/Klüver did 6'11.48 at the semifinals and finished 2nd! At the final, they were last with 6'24.21. In athletics, Déborah Rodríguez did 2'00.90, just 0.7 seconds off her record, and advanced to the semifinals
  7. I was eager to share highlights videos across the different Reddit communities I'm on. But people started complaining that the videos were geo-locked. Marca Claro has the rights for Hispanic America, so I understand that those videos aren't available in North America and Europe. But the issue also happened with videos on the Olympics official channel! Then I realized that the highlights videos in that channel are narrated in Spanish (I guess with Marca Claro announcers), and many of them focus on Hispanic American teams. So the IOC is pushing highlights targeted to different regions of the world, which is nice. But there's no standard highlights (maybe with ambient audio?) open for everyone to enjoy together, which is sad.
  8. The coverage of the peloton road cycling races had graphics with the usual lead, chase and peloton time gaps. The triathlon races didn't, so it was much harder to follow.
  9. In rowing, Cetraro/Klüver did 6'36.87 at the repechage, finishing 3rd by 0.08 seconds, so they are into the top 12! In swimming, Nicole Frank did 2'18.93 at the 200 m individual medley, or 0.7 seconds above her best time.
  10. Well, it turns out that Marca Claro has a full set of free YouTube streams across Hispanic America.
  11. La selección masculina de vóley le está ganando a Brasil. En otra noticias, a la esgrimista Belén Perez le propusieron matrimonio.
  12. An Argentine fencer was proposed marriage by her partner and coach during an interview.
  13. Cetraro/Klüver did 6'42.85 at their heat, about 20 seconds off the top 2. In a few hours they will compete at the repechage. Lola Moreira will also compete tonight.
  14. Er, United States lost a 2006 World Championship semifinals game versus Russia.
  15. I wonder if 3-vs-3 beach voiley would be a better show than the current 2-vs-2.
  16. Taiwanese taewkondist Su Po Ya has been a meme in Spanish social media, since "su polla" it means "his penis".
  17. Claro Sports / Marca Claro has the rights in Hispanic America. I'm pretty sure that the journalists will give little attention to non-Mexicans. Here in Uruguay, local rights were sublicensed to Channel 5 TNU (public broadcaster) and VTV (cable channel that has Uruguayan football and basketball). I expect them to have a few football journalists plus a few journalists with no sports knowledge at all.
  18. Rowers Cetraro/Klüver will be the first Uruguayans to compete at Tokio. Full calendar: https://twitter.com/faltaunoradio/status/1417557818941521931
  19. In my opinion, drivers should be punished for squeezing the rival off the track if they are on par.
  20. Crazy idea 1 for cricket: make teams swap roles every 4 overs. Crazy idea 2 for cricket: make the boundary a very tall net around the field, and do not stop the play when the ball touches it.
  21. Uruguay defeated Chile, and Chile defeated Brazil. On Sunday it's Uruguay vs Brazil.
  22. Actually, Canada last played in 2000, and Turkey in 1952! Also Italy was silver in 2004. Anyway, I still don't like that 6 out of 12 teams are European.
