  1. Las Cimarronas lost to Chile 4-0, then lost to Canada on penalty shootout. They finished 5th after Trinidad and Tobago withdrew after too many players got coronavirus.
  2. The South and Central American Men's Handball Championship is underway. The tournament was supposed to have 8 teams, with two groups of 4 teams, where the two two teams advance to the semifinals and qualify for the World Cup. However Colombia withdrew, so group A has Argentina, Uruguay and Bolivia, and group B has Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Costa Rica. Uruguay defeated Bolivia 42-9, therefore we qualified to the World Cup. Good for us, but probably unfair to the group B teams.
  3. Two men's and three women's continental cups are underway.
  4. Las Cimarronas are playing the Women's Pan American Field Hockey Cup, They lost against Argentina 6-0.
  5. María Eugenia Cruces and Cecilia Verocai were signed by Italian club Calvisano, becoming Uruguay's first ever female rugby union professional players. Cruces was raised at Círculo de Tenis, and Verocai at Vaimaca de Salto. Cruces is a biochemist (she was on road for a doctorate). Verocai was a coach at Trébol de Paysandú.

  15. Uruguay hosted the South American Canoe Championship at Calcagno lake, just south of the Carrasco airport near Montevideo.   18. Víctor Rostagno got the vault silver medal at the South American Artistic Gymnastics Championship with an average score of 13.967. Guillermo Maclean got the sabre bronze medal at the South American Fecing Championship. It's our first continental medal since 1999.

In weightlifting, Ezequiel Almeida broke an 91 kg under-23 national record with 134 kg.
