  1. beat in 4x100m. Not a result you see that often.
  2. My even bolder prediction is that two of the eight teams will qualify for the final
  3. No, people expected them to be competitive with this new team. I heard some chatter about them on Athletics Twitter during the African Games.
  4. Exchanges need to be improved, but the speed might be there.
  5. Ta Lou-Smith had a poor stretch for line, but the team could clean up some of their exchanges too.
  6. could be a darkhorse here…
  7. off to Round 2…
  8. Those are Carnival costumes. They had people dressed in them at the Bermuda Grand Prix last week too. Trinidad and Tobago had an opening ceremony segment dedicated to the cultural significance of Carnival during the Commonwealth Youth Games.
  9. Couldn't they essentially focus on one relay each day, since there isn't really any elimination between qualification opportunities? Of course, you need to be very strong in one of them to make that strategy work.

  11. The IOC generally uses exceptional/discretionary invitation for the EOR.
  12. Just wanted to give a quick shoutout to @Epic Failure @pacowong1223 @duineeile @Rich @silentAssassin who joined the forum recently
  13. American Football and Cheerleading are also full members of the IWGA now: https://www.theworldgames.org/news/Members-23/Flag-Football-and-Cheerleading-join-The-World-Games-Family-2527
  14. And...the city will become first one to host The World Games twice. Link: https://www.theworldgames.org/news/The-World-Games-17/40-years-later-The-World-Games-to-return-to-Karlsruhe-in-2029-2528
  15. Yes?
  16. Reminder that the Refugee Olympic Team will be announced this week.
  17. I believe it was decided a few months ago, but it was just notcied today, waterskiing events have been dropped from the program. The sport will only feature events in wakeboard, cable wakeboard, and wakesurf (skimboard).
  18. He also won a gold medal at last year's European Games.
  19. missed out on a potential universality quota in women's surfing. I'm not sure what their other prospects are at the moment.
  20. I'm going to cross-post this to breathe a little life back into the club threads. Team Update and Thoughts (April 2024) Current Quotas: 2 Archery - 1 (men's individual recurve) Fencing - 1 (men's foil) Schembri and D'Amour qualifiying has provided some nice relief after a rather quiet qualification season. Both are certainly some of the islands' best athletic prospects. If they stay healthly and avoid any miscellaneous issues, I look forward to seeing what results they can achieve in Paris. Ideal Quota Allocation: 6-8 Other users simulated 8 quotas for Team ISV, which feels a bit generous at this moment (not that it wasn't appreicated ). I'm definitely keeping my eye on Michelle Smith (athletics). If she can get a quota in the women's 400m hurdles, I believe that will garantee an additional male quota in athletics as well. Other than Smith, I can't envision any other quotas outside universality allocations. I have no idea which sports/athletes the NOC targeted, but the following allocation would leave me very pleased: Archery - 1 (women's individual recurve) Golf - 1 (women's individual) [Swayne had that nice 6th place result at Santiago 2023. It would be cool to see her compete in Paris.] Swimming - 2 Sailing - ? [I don't feel like it was a particularly great cycle for the sailing team. Dale might be a candidate for a universality quota in ILCA7 though.]
  21. She jumped 6.94m at the Jeux de la Francophonie last year, which is how she qualified for Paris 2024.
