  1. It really isn’t pertinent to the Archery World Championships, or whatever is going on here, but I’m older than you
  2. They added graphics during today’s evening session at least.
  3. Blackman doing pretty good at multi-sport games this summer. He bags the first home gold medal in the men’s 200m freestyle. pick up bronze medals finishes the day with two medals.
  4. @Sindo I’d love to hear what the Games were like in-person when you get the chance.
  5. Overall, a nice edition of the Games. It seemed like the locals got into it, at least a little bit. I didn’t really know what to expect from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but it seems they did okay in the end. Their athletes performed about as well as could be expected, if not better. The broadcast coverage was nice, but I still prefer full sessions to the integrated feed. I don’t believe a host has been selected for 2027. Personally, I’d hate to see this event disappear from the calendar. I like the mix of artistic and sports competitions. Plus, I don’t get to see v. , v. , or v. with multi-sport games gold medals on the line very often
  6. finished on top of the medal table. They were just too strong in athletics. claimed a deserved second. It was nice see them entered in most competitions after the withdrawal of many of the non-African nations. round out the top five.
  7. We’ve seen a lot half-full, or even closer to empty, venues this cycle. It’s been refreshing to see the locals show up in huge numbers for such a “unknown” multi-sport games. I mean…just look at the crowd for the gold medal match in women’s basketball.
  8. Catching up on the final events from this weekend… African wrestling was a lively affair. The men’s team final between and was arguably one of the best moments of the Games. was pretty dominant as usual, though four other countries won gold medals as well. I would like to see this sport included in the African Games and World Combat Games. There needs to be more respect for traditional sports in the Olympic Movement.
  9. No, Lake Placid won the bid for the 2023 edition. Lucerne was awarded the 2021 edition, which was originally postponed to December and then cancelled. Italy will host the winter edition 2025.
  10. I think it’s still seen as stepping stone for areas with larger ambitions, or for “second tier” metropolitan areas looking to host a major event. I still see plenty of news about the event in my feeds, so they still have a following. From an American perspective, the Games are a fun trip for our university students. It’s likely that many won’t make it to the Olympics, so this gives them a big event of their own. It’s not well-known in the United States, but the student-athletes that go seem to have a wonderful time.
  11. Glasgow 2014, with a similar course and conditions, only had 12 finish. This is an improvement
  12. It was about 50/50 in terms of the flags flying over apartments when I was there
  13. ready to win the whole, damn thing
  14. They already have hosts lined up for 2025, 2027, and 2029. In general, I watch a lot of the competition, but the time zone was bad for me this time around.
  15. Russian version of the Commonwealth Games are happening in Belarus. They actually began in 2021, but obviously have taken on a very different role now. This is first of a few planned “alternative” multi-sports games that will feature Belarus and Russian in a full, official capacity. I believe a counter-Universiade is scheduled for next month. To be honest, I don’t give a flying fuck about these. I figured it might be worth posting, so there can be a discussion. 16. UCI YouTube Channel has a lot of streams. You just need to set your VPN to a country that has access to them.
  17. The fuq is happening
  18. Well…that was quick. look lost early
  19. Gbai and Kone both ran under the Olympic standard in the women’s 200m @Josh @JoshMartini007
  20. Ghelber failed to break Wlodarczyk’s Games Record in the women’s hammer throw. She also came up just short of the Olympic standard.
  21. Novac threw 84.75m in the men’s javelin, which smashed the Games Record set by Aukasz Grzeszczuk in 2013 (78.62m). He was less than a meter off the Olympic standard @rybak @Monzanator you guys should practice up on your French and enter in 2027
  22. I actually find the level of political pats-on-the-back and glorification of the Commonwealth at the opening ceremony very nauseating More so than usual at least.
  23. Steel drum national anthem performance is an early win for
