  1. did a great job of getting school kids out to the venues for the GSSE. Definitely something that should be done regularly. You could tell how cool it was for them.
  2. Tolj saves herself from disaster on the third throw.
  3. of all countries should know how valuable that can be given the Baku 2015 drama
  4. I’ve actually enjoyed the commentary team on the world feed. A few silly slip-ups, but they’re keeping me interested in the event at least.
  5. The 50 spectators in the stands will be disappointed
  6. I can view all the livestream in the US. The website and streams seem fine to me now.
  7. The broadcast manual did say many preliminaries would be streamed in a “reduced streaming quality.” I didn’t know that was code for actual dogshit though
  8. haven’t entered any athletes in Division 3, so AASSE won’t be in danger of a promotion this year was allowed to enter athletes in 2015, so I’d imagine they’d be allowed to again, but it seems odd that they’re missing.
  9. No, the EOC has clarified there will be no medal ceremonies for the individual events. Medals will be made available for team representatives to pick up and give/ship to the athletes at their discretion. From the EOC:
  10. They’ve added some metaverse content to the website. I got it to run on my phone. It didn’t seem like anything too groundbreaking, but maybe there will be more to it during the Games link: https://www.european-games.org/the-european-games-metaverse/
  11. I was able to get a question or two in with the CCS President at last week’s press conference. Here’s my background article with his words for those interested: https://discoverthegames.com/how-the-worlds-oldest-regional-multi-sport-games-miraculously-survived
  12. These also start this week. Unfortunately, it seems like we’re taking a significant step back from the last edition. There is no official website or results system as of yet, which is shame since we had a great results system and plenty of streaming last time around.
  13. Individual performances could also land athletes on the podium from tomorrow on…figuratively of course, since there won’t actually be any medal ceremonies for the individual events
  14. I believe this is where you can watch the Games if you’re from outside Pan American, but I’m not totally sure: https://centrocaribesports.org/elementor-8280/ Claro has the rights in most of Central America. I think Panam Sports Channel might be showing the event in South America. It was very unclear where you can watch the Games if you’re from
  15. Yeah, there’s definitely some short comings with this one at present. In general, there hasn’t been a good results system since the two winter multi-sport games that started off the year. Asia-Pacific Masters was pretty good, except the individual PDF files were nearly 4 MB each!
  16. Broadcast schedule is available on the “media” section of the website, and hasn’t changed for a while now. Times are in CET, so you just need to convert if your time zone is different.
  17. with a full team as well, but no one at the qualifier (at least in the individual rounds). This whole qualification cycle for the Pan American Games has felt a little “empty” or “off” though. US missing random events, NOCs not funding team sports, etc. I think countries are still working through the consequences of the pandemic and other disruptions on their funding.
  18. My colleague is running point on this one. I’m doing my best to help from behind the scenes. I think I might also run some sort of stats blog, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. I’d really like to make it my career to write or assist in the marketing of/about multi-sport games. Unfortunately, it’s a very competitive niche in the communications field. Plus, it can be hard to get your name out there. Totallympics helped in that regard, and then ATR was definitely a step forward professionally. My colleague and I are really trying to create a third main media outlet for international sports fans with DtG, one with a larger scope than just the Olympics, World Cup, and World Championships. It’s not an easy mission with a small staff and very limited budget though. This is our website: https://discoverthegames.com
  19. Three hours into adding all the Olympians competing onto my research document…and I’m only 12 delegations in Not sure I’ll finish it in time for the Games, but I’m doing my best.
  20. And immediately make themselves ineligible for a universality quota for LA28
  21. Hopefully she gets awarded the wildcard
  22. Special Olympics World Games are underway in . It’s a great event for inclusivity, and it still largely captures that multi-sport games energy you get from the other major Games.
  23. Refugee Team was originally supposed to have five athletes, but Kimia Alizadeh is missing from that list at the moment.
  24. Results system available here: https://results-sansalvador2023.com/#/schedule/disciplines It looks like information is gradually being added now
