  1. Always weird watching a reduced entry omnium. I understand why it’s restricted to one rider a country at the Olympics, but surely the CAC Games and Pan Am Games could up that two riders so we don’t have these weird low entry mass start races.
  2. The way @hckošice has me constantly wishing athletes success He knows how to the recruit fans.
  3. v. heading into overtime in women’s handball. Not the best match perhaps, but still highly entertaining. Edit: completes the comeback. just can’t close in team sports at these Games.
  4. Toronto 2015 speed skating venue was odd. I guess it worked though. The Pan American Games will probably continue to have an indoor velodrome, which is unlikely to small to fit a patinodrome in the center. I don’t really know what a new patinodrome costs, but it doesn’t seem like it should be expensive, so I’d be interested to know how much Lima’s cost. Birmingham (Alabama) just made a temporary oval out of raised pavement in the parking lot for The World Games. The U.S could have used a propose built facility. I don’t think we have many. I understand why organizers did what they did though, even if I think the athletes deserve better for what is essentially their “Olympics.”
  5. might be my favorite swimming podium. The little guys taking it the big guys in the men’s 50m freestyle.
  6. just rode the most chaotic women’s team pursuit race I’ve seen. Both teams obliterated after 3000m. Colombia with a sloppy change. Mexico’s lead rider continuously leaving the train behind. takes it in the end.
  7. I think this is the first time an outdoor velodrome has been used for a continental/regional multi-sport games since the 2014 Asian Games? Interesting use of space as they’ve put the patinodrome in the center of the velodrome.
  8. takes bronze in women’s handball. squandered too many chances in that match unfortunately.
  9. I really like how they’ve worked handball into an existing venue. This event needs more venues like that in the future. Countries shouldn’t have to pay a large bill to host. The costs threaten the viability of these Games.
  10. Atos forgetting/not posting random documents is so annoying, especially because they are a difficult organization to contact. To be honest, I feel like most of the results systems since the pandemic have been a hot mess for one reason or another. Microplus’ systems for Birmingham2022, LP2023, and EYOF2023 were likely the best of the bunch so far, and I still have some nitpicks and smaller issues with those.
  11. Yeah, another highly annoying tech glitch
  12. really deserves a shoutout for the great Games they’ve had. They’ll add another gold medal in women’s teqball.
  13. It’s a chaotic event altogether because the athletes can get in each other’s way and pick up dumb penalties.
  14. Anybody else get random commercials on europeangames.tv from time to time?
  15. Were those his kids in the stands waving the flags during the match, or just some other spectators?
  16. Longoria might not be as dominant as she was a few years ago, but I’d still fancy her for gold. I do like a good upset though, and Guatemalan gold in racquetball would be pretty neat.
  17. Well, that a was a chaotic half hour of results amending
  18. motored themselves to that gold medal. A quality shooting after a hard run didn’t hurt as well. Gotta feel for
  19. has a gold medalist at last @hckošice
  20. I can’t even figure out what to type right now. I didn’t expect this at all. Just, wow! I never expected a team sports gold medal to be a reality when I started following/cheering for USVI in 2019. I wanted to cheer for a smaller NOC so I could experience big moments like this. It isn’t always easy to find info about the team, athletes, and sports culture on the islands. My fandom isn’t as strong as I’d like it to be sometimes, and I haven’t even been able to visit the islands yet. There have been many close calls with success over the last few years. It was tough watching events knowing the athletes you’re supporting are unlikely to win (at least coming from the USA). I can’t speak for the island, but I can’t even fathom what a moment this is for the players and fans. I’m just so happy for them. Here’s to more more years of supporting underdogs
