Mit der Analyse hast du vermutlich Recht. Letztes Jahr war Dehning wohl auch von Verletzungen gehandicapt. Vielleicht ist er jetzt auch mal ein paar Monate verletzungsfrei geblieben. Hoffentlich können alle Beteiligten die Leistung richtig einschätzen. Wenn er sich dieses Jahr bei Weiten um die 83-84m stabilisiert, wäre das schon super. Bin aber jetzt mal gespannt in Richtung Olympiaplätze: Neben Weber ist jetzt eigentlich nur noch ein Platz frei (außer Röhler, Vetter, Hofmann kommen im Mai allesamt mit stabilen 85m+ um die Ecke, was ich aber bezweifle).

Das scheint ja nahezu unglaublich. Auch wenn er wohl nochmal einen 85m-Wurf nachgelegt hat - da warte ich gespannt auf die offizielle Meldung von LA.de. Auch wenn er als Talent galt: Wahrscheinlich wäre er in der Geschichte der Erste, der bei der Steigerung seiner PB die kompletten 80er-Weiten übersprungen hat (79,13m bisherige PB aus 2022)

Quick question: I understand the qualification document for eventing that only 1 quota place can be allocated per NOC via Zone Groups. Only via World ranking it should be possible to qualify an additional individual athlete (up to 2 per NOC). Thus, technically CHN qualifies its second rider via World ranking and India should take the second Group G quota place, right?

Definiere "Verdient gehabt". ;-) Tatsache ist, dass in allen Fällen mindestens 3 Athleten besser waren. Die Zeiten von Linke und die 2,33 von Potye sind super und hätten bei vielen Meisterschaften zu einer Medaille reichen können. Beim Rest will ich gar nicht abstreiten, dass das gute Leistungen sind (wie es auch sonst tolle Leistungen abseits der Mediallenränge gegeben hat, zB gestern von Olivia Gürth oder von Joshua Abuaku), aber momentan eben nur mit Glück zu den TOP 3 reichen würden.

• Im Diskus der Damen sind Allman und Perkovic normalerweise immer weiter als die Deutschen. ZB in den Diamond League-Wettkämpfen, bei denen D häufig zu dritt im Diskus Damen vertreten ist, gelingt fast nie ein TOP 3-Platz, da immer die gleichen Anderen vor den Deutschen sind.
• Die Leistung von Weber ist auch "gut" gewesen, aber eben auch nicht notwendigerweise medaillenträchtig: Chopra und der Tscheche werfen standardmäßig weiter.
• Die Leistung von Weißenberg wird auch künftig nicht zu einer Medaille auf Weltebene reichen, wenn Nafi Thiam wieder dabei ist. Und auch die Polin Sulek hat diesmal gefehlt.

Insgesamt glaube ich, dass seitens Verband sehr viel schön geredet wird und mir persönlich zumindest nicht klar ist, wie der Umschwung geschafft werden soll. Für mich hört und fühlt sich das alles sher nach Prinzip Hoffnung an, dass in Paris oder in Los Angeles plötzlich über Nacht einfach alles anders ist.

Dieses Jahr gab es 8 Medaillen bei der U23EM und 23 Medaillen bei der U20EM. Das würde diesen Aufschwung 2028 tatsächlich untermauern. Jedoch glaube ich, dass diese Erfolge in den "Nachwuchs-Klassen" auch in den letzten Jahren so war. Das Problem liegt doch darin die jungen Sportler weiter zu fördern und dann erfolgreich in die "Erwachsenen" Wettbewerbe zu bekommen.

Und da bin ich gespannt, ob der Verband daran was ändern kann... 

Deutschland ist auf Europäischer Ebene bei den U-Meisterschaften eigentlich immer recht erfolgreich gewesen. Bei der A-EM 22 in München war D ja auch erfolgreichste Nation, aber das ist eben halt bloß Europa.

Wie du richtig sagst, eines der Probleme in der deutschen LA ist, die Talente weiter zu fördern und mit geeigneten Trainern auch im Erwachsenen-Bereich zu Mediallienkandidaten zu machen. In den vergangenen Jahren hatten wir super viele Talente, allein wenn ich an die 100m oder den Damen-Hoch- und Weitsprung denke, die schon richtig gute Leistungen in jungen Jahren erbracht haben, dann aber stagniert sind. Tatsächlich haben wir aktuell eine prima Kontrollgruppe: Im Bereich Stoß/Diskus Männer hat D einen super talentierten Nachwuchs, der auch auf Weltebene im U-Bereich abgeräumt hat und diverse Rekorde gebrochen hat: Marius Karges, Mika Sosna, Steven Richter (der ja bei der WM in Budapest schon dabei war), Tizian Lauria. Wenn es von denen in den kommenden Jahren niemand schafft, dann schafft es wohl niemand. Allerdings haben einige von den Genannten - genau wie das Mega-Mittelstreckentalent Jolanda Kallabis - bereits schon wieder mit Verletzungen zu kämpfen. Womit wir bei einem weiteren Problem der dt. LA wären...

Was das Ziel "Weltklasse 2028" des DLV angeht, muss ich sagen, dass mir dort außer den Willensbekundungen der Offiziellen keinerlei Maßnahmen bekannt sind, die mich an die Verwirklichung dieser Vorstellung glauben lassen.

Dass so viele Medaillenanwärter verletzt seien, behaupten DLV und Teile der Medien auch dauernd. Aus meiner Sicht nicht haltbar, denn wer hätte denn einigermaßen realistische Chancen auf Edelmetall gehabt, der/die gefehlt hat - mal Malaika Mihambo ausgenommen, auch wenn sie für Gold in Superform hätte sein müssen. Ansonsten: Ausfälle von Klosterhalfen, Krause, Mayer, Bähre, Farken, Klein, Eckhardt-Noack schmerzen sicherlich in Hinblick auf mögliche TOP 8-Plazierungen (was für alle okay bis super wäre), aber für eine Medaille hätte bei den genannten viel zusammen kommen müssen.

Aus meiner Sicht ist der Verweis auf die Verletzten in Zusammenhang mit der Medaillenausbeute seitens DLV ein Feigenblatt. WIr haben momentan außer einigen wenigen Athleten einfach kein Westklasse-Potenzial. Und ich glaube ehrlich auch nicht, dass sich das so schnell wieder ändern wird. Zu viel und zu lange hat man geschlafen.

Jokes aside and sorry (the Olympic 20k race was very traumatic for me ;-)), Italy will definitely be a medal condenter, maybe even for Gold, but SAFE gold medal?! Don't know, that seems very optimistic. Japan, China, and a lot more like Peru, Ecuador, Poland, maybe Mexico and Spain will have a chance. I'd definitely wouldn't put any money on a team, because it seems very open (at the moment).

It's the first time in 12 years that German women managed to qualify for EuroBasket. While it's nice to see progress, a qualification for the OQT would be a HUGE upset. Moreover, our best player, WNBA star Satou Sabally, already said she'll be off for the EuroBasket in order to focus on WBNA season. So, thanks for your believe in the German team, but honestly a qualification for OQT is unlikely (not to be speak about actual qualification for Olympics). ;-)

That might be true to some degree.. but the difference to all wars somewhere in the world in recent history is that one land is stealing territory from another here.

In the end, there is a likely scenario where either Russia or Ukraine will compete at the Olympics. If Ukraine threatens with boycott, then we just say 'sorry Ukraine, your decision'?

This is absolutely the right path to ruin and spoil the Paris Olympics in advance. The Games will be overshadowed by discussions over Russia because there is definitely a probability that Ukraine will boycott the Games. And if they do, there will be definitely pro/con-discussions about further boycotts. I am desperately destroyed over how IOC and some NOCs can be so stupid to take this risk. Actually, the French Govt. should be interested in clarifying this issue as soon as possible, i.e. before world's mass media start to notice this.

Seriously, did you expect any other reaction? Talking about any possibility to have RUS athletes at the 2024 Olympics NOW is so out of place. The IOC has to end this discussion or the Olympics will be overshadowed by it.

Well, the news of the exclusion of RUS and BLR came only a few hours ago. International boards and federation do not work like social media - they need to come together in order to discuss and decide about this (and I guess they need to contact FRA and AUT, who also have to formally decide about that - likely - invitation). So, even if I hate how reluctant and slow IOC and most federation operate, I guess we have to give them at least some days to decide about the further proceedings.

For the foreseeable future it is dead. No chance for it, at least as long as Russia won't leave the Ukraine alone. Most notable performance might be the 11th place by Samantha Smith, who is born in 2005, whereas everyone else in the top-24 is from 2003 and 2002.

Nice to see that Helen Hoffmann can confirm her results from Alpen Cup Junior Races even when athletes from Scandinavia and Russia are at the start. That's a very nice success for one of the biggest German talents in Nordic sports.

In January, the first World championships for Women's Doubles were held. 14 sleds from 9 countries entered. You can absolutely argue that it's too soon for being an Olympic discipline as there are still huge differences between the best and the middle class doubles. However, with 4 years in before the Olympic debut, Women's doubles would not be the discipline with the shortest time span between first World Championships and Olympic debut - thinking of Monobob or 4x400 Mixed Relay in Athletics.

However, I'm pretty sure that both Women's doubles and Nordic combined (Women's singles and Mixed relay) will be added. Hope they get rid of the Luge Team Relay, never liked it (won't happen, I know).
