  1. 3 way tie for the first place in men's golf. Does it mean Paraguay finally has a gold medal or is there some sort of tie breaking system?
  2. Paraguay can win their first gold medal ever in men's golf today.
  3. This is our second national sport. We have 200 million people. It's impossible that our B or even C players are this bad.
  4. Congratulations, Argentina for winning the bronze medal on volleyball. It's unbelievable how volleyball is our second national sport but we can't assemble a half decent team to play at the Pan Ams. Two bronze medals in volleyball and beach volleyball is a joke. Thanks for nothing, Brazilian Volleyball Confederation.
  5. Whoever was responsible for creating the schedule should be forced to watch a bodybuilding competition for 72 hours straight.
  6. This opens up an interesting discussion: what's the point of adding a sport to the program of the Pan Am Games? In rhythmic gymnastics, Brazil has benefited greatly from the experience at the Pan Ams and has managed to qualify a group for many editions of the Olympics since 2000. Canada, the United States and quite possibly Mexico (in 2020) also managed to do so (or, in the case of Mexico, is expected to do so). The US almost qualified for an individual final in 2016 and is expected to do so in 2020. What countries benefited from the experience at the Pan Ams in trampoline other than Canada and the US? None. Brazil, Mexico and Colombia won medals at the Pan Ams, but they are not even close to reaching a final at the World Championships (in individual trampoline) or the Olympics. Venezuela also won a medal in trampoline in 1955, but they never reached the finals at the World Championships (but to be fair the first WC in trampoline only happened in 1964). Argentina won a medal in tumbling in 1955 but never qualified for the tumbling finals at the World Championships (again, to be fair, tumbling was part of acrobatic gymnastics at the time and only had the first World Championships in 1974).
  7. Yes, I don't have a perfectly objective explanation to drop it, but I still believe the recent results at the Pan Ams hardly justify its presence in the program, in my opinion: Canada won 7 out of 8 possible gold medals since 2007, and in 1955 and 1959 the US won both gold medals (and the remaining gold medal Canada didn't win in 2007). There's just no variety among winners. Even rhythmic gymnastics has had more variety among nations that have earned at least one gold medal (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Mexico and the US in 9 editions) while in trampoline we've had two nations (Canada and the US) earning the gold medal in 6 editions.
  8. What a sad moment in Judo. I could almost feel the pain myself. Poor Canadian girl.
  9. Brazil, the US and Chile are strong in Polo too. The SUP events are a joke, Poomsae is terrible and Karate (in general) is very uninteresting. Basque Pelota is very weird, but at least it has some ties with Spanish-speaking America (even though the origin of the sport is Europe). Bodybuilding is hilariously bad. I thought it would be terrible but it far surpassed my worst nightmares. I would like to see Lacrosse added to the program, Polo would be a big no from me (I hate any sport where they use horses) and I would completely drop Trampoline from the program. Even I hate trampoline gymnastics, and this says a lot. I would not mind Parkour as an experimental sport in the program, though.
  10. The Olympic champion finished fourth. I can't believe how bad this kid has been performing after winning the Olympic gold.
  11. Yep! I'm checking the live scoring system. Go, Bolivia!
  12. Men's table tennis team gold was supposed to be easy for Brazil. Except it wasn't. Argentina and US in the final is a bad, bad joke.
  13. This is one of the rare moments when I'm not upset with a Brazilian messing up and losing the gold medal.
  14. I thought I hated the official song until I heard the music for the medal ceremonies. Compared to that, the official song is a masterpiece.
  15. I believe Honduras is extra motivated because this could be their first ever gold medal at the Pan Ams, so I'm hopeful for an exciting match.
  16. Brazil just can't get a second gold medal in cycling. Unbelievable. Our single, lone, only, sole gold medal in cycling was earned in 1959.
  17. Yes, I apologize. I recognize you were right since the beginning, and he ended up being the best from the CAC region. He's still young and he will have other chances to challenge for the gold medal. Excellent result, nevertheless.
  18. Yep. According to this article (in Portuguese) there is one single court in Brazil. I hope this means the sport finally gets some attention around here.
  19. A medal for Brazil in basque pelota. This is absolutely crazy. I would never ever expect that. Hats off to the French guy who represents Brazil.
