  1. Anyone got a link of the Kazak Athletics?
  2. http://sports.ndtv.com/boxing/news/259988-three-indians-register-for-aiba-olympic-qualifiers-for-pro-boxers
  3. Along with Jitu and Yogeshwar, Narsingh is one of the biggest medal contenders.
  4. What I saw yesterday, Sumit does not have much chance to progress at Rio, best situation would be if we fail to get that quota here and Vijender gets it in the next event, that would increase our chances.
  5. Far more technically sound boxer compared to Sumit, landed a lot of good punches. Sumit lost fair & square.
  6. Not a realistic chance in either of these 2 events.
  7. Btw, just missed this point, there are no B Standards in Athletics this time, all have qualified in A standard only.
  8. Tirtha, Mirabai has a chance right? she has lifted 192kg, expecting 194kg lift from her, that should give her at least 50% chance of a medal.
  9. In Athletics, we have had 11 new NR's in the last 2.5 months, that is what has changed, we can qualify even in 100m, that thought has changed, we have a bigger contingent in TT, which has also changed, in TT we won the 2nd Division world championship in both men and women category this year and qualified for the 1st division, again what has changed.
  10. Can't agree with you here, we are improving and mainly in Olympics our target is participation and a few medals. We need to win over 100 medals in Asian Games/Commonwealth etc first, to have big medal expectations from Olympics. We are improving and target is 120 participation this time as agreed by a number of other members here. Hopefully we reach it.
  11. Congrats, to all. Should we bring back thoughts of 120 which we forgot recently, What about the ban on the 3 countries, any update on whether we can get a few more in WL?
  12. Congrats to all, we have now crossed the dreaded 96, where we got stuck for the last few weeks, we will keep moving forward now.
  13. This is ridiculous, how come a problem which happened in the morning can't be solved till the evening. What if such a thing happens during Olympics?
  14. Kynan Chenai hits another 25 in round 4, wow what shooting, score 99/100, in 1st pos, just need to keep his nerves in round 5.
  15. Heard Vijender has gained wt and will now fit in 81 kg category.
  16. Kynan Chenai, finsihes on top spot today after 3 rounds in Men's Trap at the Shooting World Cup in Baku, this is a tougher competition than Rio. This is un-expected, seems to be getting in form at the right time. Hope he keeps the same form tomorrow, Link - http://www.issf-sports.org/competitions/results/detail.ashx?cshipid=1826&eventcode=TR125&isjunior=False
  17. Guys, any visibility on whether we are sending any of the boxers in the last Pro qualification in July, those that don't qualify here like Satish?
  18. I'm not saying it was his fault or anything, it's normal to be in and out of form, he did his bit and I'm sure he will come back, the issue was with the selection after the defeat with Brazil which cost us 3 quota's. Malaysia didn't shoot too well enough to defeat us. Anyway let's forget and look forward towards boxing tomorrow.
  19. Just to confirm, anybody who had doubts on about who shot those low scoring one's in archery qualification, it is confirmed by the media, that those scores were indeed of Champia, there was also a comment that the scores were shown in descending order, which was incorrect since if you look into Malaysia's scores, the one we lost, their last archer put up a lot of 10's. 20. I'm with you, in this. Initial thoughts. 1.) Identification of new Sports, possible for us, initial prioritization, maybe allocate number 1-3. 2.) Each Sport what exists with us, infrastructure as you pointed out, the homework and how we can improve, a little study on what the top nations in that particular sport do. TOP, Government how they can contribute. 3.) Contribution of media, what proposals can go to private companies, maybe later, first we an focus on points 1 and 2. Other people in the forum, what do you guys think, let us know.
  21. Excellent inputs, Vivek. This message needs to be passed on to the right place.
  22. Yes, gr8 news, the top seed got beaten, it's the Spanish boxer who beat the top seed.
  23. Great Day, one more to go, should get it, so the postings are on, guys maybe you would like to check this website, in case you you already haven't. Link - http://www.nbcolympics.com/full-schedule
  24. 4X400m Men's team is stronger than the women's team and will surely qualify, they should progress further at Rio than the women's team. The 46.23s by Anas and Rajiv last week, was on a very wet track, so don't get disheartened. We expect 3 in boxing, 2 from the current event and Mary if she gets one. Apart from that at least 3 more quota in athletics is expected and we will get it, OP was a sure shot in 5000m, look at her timing in last Asian Games, don't know why she keeps shifting events, she is not upto the mark in 1500m, hope some sanity prevails.
