  2. I wouldn't agree. Athletes can still choose to compete if they have diarrhea. They are forbidden to compete if they have COVID.
  3. "If the athlete was not able to compete in the final and would have receive a diploma for their participation, they will receive that. What a wonderful consolation...
  4. But pretty common for every combat sport... Even taekwando this cycle.
  5. 7k cases in the USA on Sunday. That's the lowest number since March 21, 2020.
  6. Technical routine from the qualifying also counts for the final. Only the free routine gets 'repeated'.
  7. Anne Abernathy is the only female Tripartite athlete. I have a feeling she'll get an invite. And she damn right should, considering some athletes who already got selected (Matvei Petrov and such).
  8. Kind of unfair that Setubal always gets to host this. Conditions do play their part, and Setubal favors those who like cold oceans and swimming in bodysuits.
  9. For some reference, here are all Grand Prix scores (>66% in bold) of riders in question, from 2019 and onwards... Pretty much everyone is on the bubble. Some have been inactive for a long while. Others are on a clear upward trajectory. Qabil Ambak - Delatio Caroline Chew - Tribiani Shruti Vora - Denightron Anush Agarwalla - Sir Caramello Annabelle Collins - Chuppy Checker Patricia Ferrando - Elvis Alex Baker - Dutchman
  10. MER Grand Prix competitions are scheduled for both Thursday and Friday. Riders can enter only one of them. And I forgot. Alex Baker is in Le Mans too, trying to become a surprise team rider in Tokyo (and potentially the savior of the Irish team). @OlympicIRL Entry list
  11. So we have entered the last week of the MER period... And oh boy. New Zealand created a total chaos after withdrawing from dressage. Their quota got reallocated to Malaysia, but Qabil Ambak still lacks the confirmation score of 66% and will be rushing to Le Mans to get it. Should he fail, the quota will get reallocated to Singapore. Caroline Chew however also lacks the confirmation result and will compete in Le Mans too. Should she fail too, the quota goes to India, and guess what? Both Anush Agarwalla and Shruti Vora are in Le Mans going for their confirmation scores. This is all very last minute. All these riders (except Agarwalla) have been inactive for over a year, but now after NZ withdrew they are trying to pick up the pieces. All of them have achieved 66% in the past, but the question is whether they can do it on such short notice Should all of them fail, the quota will finally go to Hong Kong. Jacqueline Siu has her MERs in order, but hasn't competed in over a year... It is questionable whether she and her horse are ready to compete after such pause, but nevertheless, they would be allowed to go to Tokyo should Hong Kong receive a place. Also in Le Mans, Annabelle Collins will have one last chance to confirm MER aboard new horse. Should she fail, the quota goes to Venezuela (Patricia Ferrando lacks the confirmation result, but is in Le Mans as well), and if they fail, it will finally go to Chile (MER confirmed). Phew.
  12. He literally just posted a screenshot of the rankings (from the .pdf)... And even though his rank is not colored, he somehow assumed he must have qualified by being ahead of NZ... It's just a dumb mistake. IWF did not inform him (or our NOC) of anything, so there is no grounds for some appeal (that would be crazy, in fact).
  13. But if Round 1 includes qualifiers from the prelim, and has 56 total athletes, it would mean some of the universality spots would technically count into the 56 total. But I still suspect it must be a schedulling error. Road to Tokyo page looks pretty definitive.
  14. But then again, the Road to Tokyo page includes universality places into the total quota of 56. https://www.worldathletics.org/stats-zone/road-to/7132391?eventId=10229630 Maybe they just copy-pasted stage schedule from Rio?
  15. He must have assumed qualification because he was ahead of the Oceanian continental representative. Pretty embarrassing.
  16. What a way to lose a quota. Canadian athlete literally lost it in the last second for making a dumb mistake...
  17. No, that was my poor attempt of making a joke.
  18. Plot twist. This Italian guy / guest commentator is actually @phelps?
  19. They are right from Vaduz... https://www.lieswimming.li/artistic-swimming/athletinnen/lara-mechnig.html https://www.lieswimming.li/artistic-swimming/athletinnen/marluce-schierscher.html
  20. 2018 WC euphoria makes it now tougher than ever before in terms of pressure and expectations. It was much easier at the 2000 Euro, when we simply didn't qualify.
  21. At which point they should just abolish all qualifying rounds.
  22. Anyways, the Liechtenstein duet has a pretty fun Instagram account for those who would like to follow. https://www.instagram.com/p/CPvwV6kg1nF/
  23. Because they were the 23rd qualifiers out of 24 teams. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronized_swimming_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification
