I just took a look at the current FIBA 3x3 ranking (frozen on 1 April) and it's completely different than what it was during the qualifiers. teams have something like 1/10 points of what they had few months ago. did FIBA adjusted the points ? removed fake events ? changed the ranking system ?

gender equality , 12 = 32 it's funny how IOC insists on gender equality, and they think they did everything by just having equal number of events/teams at the Olympics !

lowest weight in Taekwondo 54kg, highest weight +87kg lowest weight in Karate 60kg, highest +84kg but lowest in GR wrestling 55kg, highest 130kg how you can have just 4 weights in 70kg range ? and there is a big big difference here, in Taekwondo and Karate, bodyweight is not a big deal. it's not even important, it's mostly about height. they easily compete against someone 10kg heavier but that's impossible in wrestling. even 4-5kg difference matters a lot. 6 weight classes is already very low for men's wrestling. it's OK for women because there is only 26kg gap between highest and lowest weight. but 75kg gap is much much bigger.

This makes sense if UWW asks for women's beach wrestling events, it doesn't mean IOC is going to give that to them. even though it just came to my mind , maybe they are thinking about using the same female freestyle wrestlers for the beach wrestling ? no more quota but more events, we can't say for certain that IOC won't like such an idea.

This is still a rumor, I knew UWW wants some Beach Wrestling events, I think I was the one writing that here but only as additional events (which will be rejected by anybody with a brain) not to replace the oldest version of wrestling. I still can't believe UWW willingly decides to drop Greco, right now wrestling (as whole) is safe , UWW is in no danger to drop Greco willingly. and beach wrestling is such a terrible idea, it's very similar to freestyle. all freestyle rejectees try their chance there. the Iranian guy who won the World Beach Games in super heavy weight can't even make it into top 5 (or even top 10) in the country in freestyle. I know IOC probably loves the idea of having 3 events in Beach wrestling for each gender instead of 6 male Greco events but my point is, UWW is not going to propose that. there are lots of Greco guys in UWW bureau, they will never vote to kill their sport. I think our federation is going to ask UWW about what they proposed to IOC, it's possible to know more about this in few days.

an interview with some Azerbaijani official (also has a position in UWW) made some headlines in wrestling community , that guy claims Greco-Roman will be replaced by Beach Wrestling ! they did that for 2022 YOG and will do the same for 2024 Paris. (according to the Azeri guy) to me it's really hard to believe that UWW will propose such a thing ! the current UWW president is from Serbia , and in most European countries Greco is more active than freestyle. in fact we usually have more wrestlers in Greco-Roman compeititon comparing to freestyle. replacing this with beach wrestling nonsense is like crime against humanity !

if it wasn't for team events (in individual sports) Thomas Bach wouldn't an Olympic Champion and probably we had another guy as IOC president. and since I think anybody else could be better than Bach. I think I agree with @LDOG here to hate team events ! I hope for no change, all of these proposed events are unnecessary to me. but I'm sure Bach and his friends are going to love some of them PS: for wrestling, it's most probably "beach wrestling" UWW stupidly thinks beach wrestling is an interesting idea !!! since Lalovic came to power they wanted to make Greco wrestlers to wrestle naked on upper body (no singlet at all) they think this will attract people to watch wrestling ! that idea failed in Greco but then they created "beach wrestling" for that purpose

the last thing I heard from him, he wants to wrestle in Tokyo but his normal bodyweight is higher than 130kg, he has to control his weight for another year and considering his age I won't be surprised if Cubans decide to send Oscar Pino who is also a gold medal candidate but if they send Lopez, he will be unseeded.

Georgia is the possible host. but there is also important that UWW says the ranking events in 2021 won't change the seeding for the Olympics, so the current ranking in UWW website is almost final. only Chinese and North Korean wrestlers can add some points from the 2021 Asian Championships but that won't make lots of changes. important points for the men's freestyle (if nobody withdraws) 57kg: Zaur Uguev and Ravi Kumar will face in the SF, I was expecting that to be the Olympic final 65kg: Otoguro will be unseeded, so being seeded isn't necessarily a good thing here. 74kg: if Burroughs makes team USA (he has to beat 79kg World Champion Kyle Dake) he and Frank Chamizo will face in the SF, and if Russia sends Sidakov he will be in the other side of the draw. 86kg: if Russia sends Naifonov, he won't face our Yazdani before the final. David Taylor is still unseeded. 97kg: if Kyle Snyder makes it (he has to beat Jden Cox) he and the great Sadulaev won't meet before the final 125kg: Petriashvili and Akgul won't meet before the final

IOC says 20 of 27 Olympic sports asked for some changes, but from what I see there are 28 sports. what's that missing sport ? Weightlifting ? or boxing since they don't recognize AIBA ?

Do we know what's going to happen for previous CEV continental leagues ? (I mean mostly both men and women CL) I can't find anything about cancelling them but it's probably impossible to continue the event since most teams already changed their roster for the next season. so what ? CEV wants to finish the remaining matches in the start of the next season ? or they simply don't bother to announce the cancellation ?

I heard from some UWW officials that they plan to add Beach Wrestling and/or Traditional wrestling but I'm almost sure they will never ask to replace Greco with them. they will ask for some new events and IOC will say no. I would say just keep the current number of events. you can't get more. while freestyle is more interesting but Greco-Roman is the oldest version of wrestling. more countries win medal in Greco, more popular in Europe. I can't imagine UWW dropping that at will. IOC once pushed for dropping Greco in 2004 but FILA/UWW didn't give up. is that a serious question ? lol or just joking ? unlike Taekwondo for example in wrestling this is impossible for wrestlers to compete against someone heavier. even in Judo that's possible but no chance in wrestling for lighter guys. for having a team event, you need teams to qualify full team in all styles (or full team in specific weights) I think only 1 or 2 countires are capable of that making the whole idea impossible. Judo can do that because of the huge number of quotas.

Taekwondo already asked for a mixed team event for the 2020 Tokyo, actually there was supposed to be a team event as demonstration or exhibition event in Tokyo. they even had qualifiers for that. I assume they will ask for that again. can't IOC stop adding nonsense events like 3x3 basketball or BMX freestyle instead of dropping something else ? I wonder how many other smart idea Bach has.

this is really interesting, and that makes sense, I mean Ajan was in trouble (big big trouble) after re-testing of 2008 and 2012 samples. attacking him at this time was much easier. in that report, they say he has diplomatic passport and could use it whenever necessary. this guy really had unlimited power. but I still can't believe how come he could continue doing this for such a long time. this is unbelievable. I wonder what he was doing before WADA and when IWF had total control over its own anti-doping program. I hope Urso and his friends can make a big change and change the whole IWF. also most countries have to take a look into their weightlifting federations to find possible corrupt officials., at least Iran should do that for sure. and I really hope they keep the sport at the Olympics. I know it's hard to change the culture of doping in this sport. but it's possible if they clean IWF from Ajan and his friends.

I know (even though it doesn't mean national federations are not guilty here) but I mean IOC, why IOC never tried to stop him for half century ! this guy was an IOC member !!! IOC is not innocent here. it's impossible to think nobody in IOC wasn't aware of his actions, I mean I knew as a normal person ! how come IOC didn't ? we should thank German TV, ARD for that report, otherwise this guy was still at power. only death could make him go and I'm not even sure about that, he would found a way to bribe death too !

I read the whole report, this pictures Tamas Ajan as devil himself while I agree with that, I wonder why nobody stopped this devil in past 45 years ?! hard to believe nobody in IOC/WADA/etc knew how corrupt he is. everybody in weightlifting community knows about him. I (as a normal sport fan) am not even an expert in this sport and I know some of his dirty actions. I really hope they kick all of his friends out of IWF, maybe they even have to destroy IWF and create something new. this organization is corrupt to the core. I think this lady Ursula Papandrea is a good person but she is surrounded by Ajan's friends.
