Gotta give the United States their best chance
This feels like slow torture (typed this seconds before the goal).

Well that medal chance was nice while it lasted.
What’s this with NBC showing Canadian wipeouts?

I remember someone asking why
wasn't favourite to win both golds in team pursuit. And it's pretty simple, the
team pursuit team always punches way bellow it's weight. Except in exactly Sochi. Strategy and teamwork is actually really important, you can't just throw the three fastest skaters together and expect them to win.
You were spot on.

I think we going to see the IOC come under major pressure to simply ignore Cas rulings. What’s the punishment if they simply refuse her to enter the arena. A fine?
They may come under pressure but ignoring CAS opinion? Won't happen. IOC statement "We must follow the rule of law."

The usual french team for tomorow's race in the usual order. Once again, we"re playing it safe, betting only on a norwegian meltdown.
I'm curious as to what you think the lineup should be. Guigonnat replaces Jacquelin?

My suggestion: 5km Mass Start Sprint (5 1km loops, 4 shooting rounds). Contested with two semifinals of 60 athletes (top 60 from Sprint), and final of 30 athletes.
You have more or less described the Super Sprint that is done in the IBU Cup. To add, you get 3 spare rounds per shoot, and if you leave any target standing, you are eliminated from the race.

What the hell was the 1 point deduction for?

I’m more optimistic about Humphries winning a second gold medal than I am about Canada winning a second gold tbh.
And I’ve always done the medal table g-s-b, betraying both my countries in the process :P
And ya, a bunch of countries tried to recruit Humphries. She also came very close to competing for
before she made the Canadian team. To her credit she picked a country she has an actual connection to. She also had good lawyers because, as someone who has become a US citizen through the same type of immigration process she did, her timeline was *fast*. Like faster than most people think is possible fast.
The time to get USA citizenship is difficult issue. Thankfully, it didn’t take an Act of Congress ala Tanith Belbin and Tracey McFarlane.
Statistically, I can see Huumphries being a stronger favorite than the Canadian women.

I learned tonight that
had recruited Humphries.

on the medal table these Olympics.
You do mean gold medals? You will at least get a tie.

Yet Canada let her change nationality? Guess you had too many gold medals in winter sports to bother?
It’s a looong story as to how she went from Canada to USA.

Tonight in Eastern US, monobob obviously 8:30-10:30 pm. Am not following Super Bowl at all, instead will start with Curling
at 8:00pm. Will await the CAS decision that is due to come out by 2:00am here. With wife we will watch dance final. Do I get up at 6:00am for aerials? Wait and see, have to work a full day from home. Of course, will have
game on as I start work.

USA Network has it live with Chad and Bill.

Those of you outside North America should hear our biathlon announcer.

I would argue Lazutina and Danilova had bad lawyers.

They had this in 2002 too but the first part didn't award any medals.
It did have the interesting twist though that Beckie Scott won all 3 medals.

We had this in cross country before the current skiathlon format (1992-2002). A medal-free race that only set the time difference for the pursuit. It wasn't the best idea though so I doubt we'll see it revived.
As I posted a second ago, in 1992, 94 and 98, they did award medals for the first race.

I believe it's the only Olympic event where you get a direct advantage from another Olympic event, right?
If I had my way there would be a sprint that awards medals and a separate sprint that is used as qualifying for the pursuit, as impractical as that may seem.
Cross Country skiing had the same type of event in 1992, 94 and 98. Classic race where medals were awarded, then pursuit race with additional medals.

Would take a real meltdown for Humphries to not win this now.
DeBruin is going in the right direction in the standings. I would be pleased with a North American sweep.

Is it normal to compete in this almost blind situation for Alpine Skiing? Other skiing events almost all postponed.
10 DNFs out of 31. If it was a normal WC race, it would likely be canceled. They have an open day tomorrow, seems like could have run it on Monday.
Maybe they will come to their senses and do the same as was done for women’s GS in. 2010.

From a personality standpoint I'll take Keegan any day of the week. From a sporting standpoint? Ya that wasn't even close.
...that being said I always root for
dual citizens no matter what sport they are competing in.
Couldn’t agree more. I have found myself not rooting for
dual though.
