  1. And runs down Noah Lyles doing it. He’s 17 yrs old. This was as incredible a night as I can ever remember at US trials. Four number 2 performers ever, an additional WL in W PV.
  2. 200 m Gabbi Thomas 21.61 best non-FloJo time.
  3. Trials 3rd round Deanna Price Hammer 79.98 NR longest (no. 8 ever) non-Włodarczyk throw.
  4. Tonight 200 sf Thomas 21.94 Prandini 21.99
  5. Trials W 200 rnd 1. Gabby Thomas 21.98 WL Jenna Prandini 22.15 Those two looked the best, have to be the favorites to make US team.
  6. The popular choice is probably Allyson Felix. Someone who I wish they would consider is Sakura Kokumai, W Kata.
  7. Agreed. however he ran a evenly paced race and negative split going 51.67, 51.50.
  8. Michelle Carter, shot put Michelle Carter won't defend shot put title after benign tumor removed (espn.com)
  9. OK, I'll name two right now, this could change a lot. 1 Torrie Huske in W 100m Fly - She just scared the WR last Monday, she's a local girl for me, from Arlington, VA and there is a special thing for me about Arlington and the 100 Fly. 1956, the first time this event was in the Olympics, the gold medal was won by Shelley Mann from Arlington, VA, and whose story is very inspirational. Torrie, btw, her mother is from China, she emigrated to the USA in 19991. 2 Sakura Kokumai W Kata - she is a long-shot, sure, but it has been chronicled in the US how she has been subject to anti-Asian harassment, and it would just be wonderful to see her win.
  10. Can we at least wait until the end of the USA athletics and artistic gymnastics trials that conclude next Sunday, 6/27, then you can cancel.
  11. Yes, that is correct. She is only running the 800 meters at the Trials. and tonight Crouser throws 23.37 WR Kovacs 22.34
  12. Now, not sending a team to the qualifier. Vietnamese karate waves goodbye to Olympic dream amid Covid-19 - VnExpress International
  13. NBC announces 7000 hours of coverage. NBCUNIVERSAL TO PRESENT UNPRECEDENTED 7,000 HOURS OF PROGRAMMING FOR TOKYO OLYMPICS THIS SUMMER - NBC Sports PressboxNBC Sports Pressbox (nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com)
  14. So, just added three more team places today to the 6 we had, U.S. boxers who turned professional added to Olympic team (nbcsports.com)
  15. 1. Athletics, all events, but especially M and W 200m M and W Pole Vault, W Softball, and W 3x3 Basketball. 2. Other nations 3. Gosh, I could probably name 3000 favorite Olympians, but I'll go back into the past and name 5 special ones to me: Jesse Owens, Emil Zatopek, Harrison Dillard, Lindy Remigino, and Shelley Mann, and a 6th for good mention, Billy Mills.
  16. And now the women have arrived. Aussie softball team first to arrive in Japan for Olympics (yahoo.com)
  17. My few cents, from wire services: Mr. Richard Pound says: "Before the end of June, you really need to know, yes or no," "There will be no further postponement" "They go ahead, or they cancel." So, US swimming and athletics trials run 6/13 to 6/27, so we would get an adverse decision right in the middle. and Ms. Kaori Yamugchui, a member of the JOC, says "organizers are cornered" "We are starting to reach a point where we cant even cancel anymore."
  18. This story, described as a fair and balanced look, talks about the same thing you mention, the Village may be one of the safest places in Japan. https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Tokyo-2020-Olympics/Pros-and-cons-of-holding-the-Tokyo-Olympics-during-a-pandemic
  19. One of the best. He might have repeated in 1972, but for one bad race in the US trials.
  20. That poll supposedly said 43% cancel, 40% postpone. So, I see two things here, 53% are in favor of the Games being held, but most just don't want them this year. But second, these polls should stop asking do you want the Games postponed, as I think most of us here believe IOC, TOCOG, and JPN Gov when they say further postponement is not an option. That said, I know other polls, when the question is its just a straight cancel or hold show 60% cancel. But this poll suits the media's McGaffrey's need when they can just scream 83% of Japanese don't want to hold the Olympics, without his bothering to break down the numbers.
