  10. Lucky there's no cricket this time.. India v Indonesia would be... interesting.
  11. This is Malaysia's first ever competitive match...
  12. The world indoor 60m hurdles record. It seems to be that Kallur's time was overlooked by the people who ratify the records,. I gather this rule will be changed next year.
  13. Mondo Duplantis's pole vault will be recognised as a new national record for US rules say that if you are a US citizen it doesn't matter if you compete for another country - you can still set American records.
  14. Introduction to BBC coverage of Beijing...
  15. 1 - If I make a mistake I don't waste time making small ones. 2/3 - Somebody who has the capability of being the best in the world (or at least being close to the best) but is not yet well known outside their own country unless you follow junior sport very closely. Jakob would have been in this category at the start of 2018 but. obviously, he got very good, very quickly. Probably people who have already won medals at senior level can be excluded - but I think the "rules" don't have to be too strict either.

  17. Olympic champion from Hemel Hempstead European champion from Newtonards. That's a bit like the two best cricket players in the world coming from Zagreb and Belgrade...
  18. Aren't there Croat handball players playing for Qatar?
  19. It's absolutely right that somebody can change countries but it shouldn't be easy. A bad example is the Kenyan who arrived in Turkey and was competing for his new country 12 months later despite having spent a lot of those 12 months back training in Kenya. And it doesn't matter that athlete was from Kenya, it would be the same if he was from Sweden or the UK or Japan or Morocco or any other country, If there's no family link to the new country then they should live in that country for at least three years - maybe more
  20. Although remember that, although Farah was born in Somalia and has a Somalian mother, his father was British so Mo has been a British citizen since he was born
