  1. I don't think I'll watch a single minute of men's hockey. Player quality is far worse than the World Championships, plus there are fewer teams. It's no better than football at the Summer Olympics.
  2. Yup. Luckily she isn’t constrained by classic/freestyle/having to travel with a national team that isn’t always favoring you
  3. Wow. That’s strange. I can understand maybe leaving it to the last minute because of other commitments/injury, but why waste time in biathlon, and come back for a mass start, which is the worst for FIS points? I assume it was a coincidence since she hasn’t seen my message to her. Glad that one way or another she knows though!
  4. I saw that too. I sent her a message on her Instagram. Maybe I should email the federation instead?
  5. I am a bit concerned for . They have a women's quota, but the only athlete (Sara Ponya) doesn't have enough FIS points to be eligible. She needs 300 and has 378. Ponya is competing in biathlon right now and hasn't done any cross country races since the World Championships. Does the federation know that Ponya isn't eligible yet? I can't imagine she wasn't interested in going to the Olympics?
  6. This reminds me of when I was watching a YouTube stream of the 2018 qualifying and someone commented in the live chat that they had a crush on "Lukáš Klimax"
  7. I agree with that conclusion. So that means Mirlene Picin would not be eligible for the Sprint? What would happen if Picin has a better FIS points average, but only Bruna can start in two events?
  8. Right, the criticism is more aimed at the government here. It's a very bad sign for the winter sports season in general. Haha. It didn't come from HIV but it was able to mutate more because of the lack of immunity in people with HIV.
  9. The variant actually appears to be less dangerous than existing ones, so not sure I understand the decision. Probably hysteria. https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/safrican-doctor-says-patients-with-omicron-variant-have-very-mild-symptoms-2021-11-28/
  10. Thank you! I am so so happy for them. It always bothered me that the *most popular sport in the country* didn’t have a women’s team anyone cared about. Now with the disastrous men’s team results at Karjala people are commenting at the players “you should take an example from the girls”. I think we have a realistic chance at a bronze medal, but only if we win Group B and avoid Canada/USA in the quarterfinals.
  11. Dutch ice hockey teams continue their bullying of developing countries @heywoodu https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2022/ogqp2h/news/29101/dutch_oven_burns_turkey
  12. I meant more if it’s at the World Championships where there’s one team per country. Kind of like in biathlon when the Czechs or USA do better in mixed relays because they only have 2 strong men/2 strong women. But yeah if there are multiple teams per country starting then you’re right. Relays are rare enough during the World Cup anyway though.
  13. I actually don't hate this idea for relays because it would make them more competitive esp. for smaller nations. Mixed team sprint seems unnecessary as hell though. CC already has so many events.
  14. Lol. I mean it kind of worked… also love the chant of “Bul-ga-ri-ya” as they’re falling around on the ice. And the heckling during Slovakia’s 2nd penalty shot.
  15. As qualifying starts in a few days, here's my funniest ever women's ice hockey moment from the 2010 edition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RypeKwtL4U&ab_channel=Stecak @hckošice "Anna Dzurnakova, number 14, team Slovakie. Ten minutes for misconduct, plus match penalty"
  16. Only 10 nations have enough quotas to be eligible for the team event, so we already know which are qualified regardless of rankings. Debuts for Georgia and Czech Republic (!). No France for the first time.
  17. Wow! That I didn't expect, I thought they'd join World Athletics first.
  18. You can take a test to see if you have antibodies from COVID. Really simple stuff. If you can verify vaccines you can verify natural immunity.
  19. It’s silly how they aren’t giving exemptions for athletes with natural immunity (which is stronger than vaccine immunity).
  20. This list should give you a good idea of Team players. All the ones with a Chinese flag next to their name. To China’s credit all appear to have some form of Chinese heritage. IIHF told me they weren’t relaxing the eligibility rules for China and eg. Jake Chelios has no Chinese flag next to his name so I assume no more naturalizations? Question is if that means no waiver for eg. Ethan Werek which is a 4 year case as he once represented Canada
  21. This is the first time I'm actually glad that China has so much influence lol
  22. We have Nebelhorn Trophy entries! http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent00110963.htm
  23. Yup that relies on SUI or ROC beating Finland and looking at their games this year I'd say that's very unlikely.
