  1. Although TPE is safe for Tokyo 2020, the referendum already had its effects. In Badminton Asia (where China has considerable political power), Taipei has been stripped from hosting Asian Junior Championships. Without the referendum issue, Taiwan is already de facto barred from hosting Asian badminton event except junior events. A ban was even considered if the referendum passed.
  2. Please, FAI even held one event in Northern Cyprus lol
  3. Let me present: The dumbest Football Association president ever I hereby challenge other FIFA members to challenge him in term of stupidity Background: Indonesia failed to reach the knockout stage of Southeast Asian Championships (AFF Cup), the new coach claimed his responsibility and intended to resign from his post. When the president was asked about the AFF failure, this bald dumb man called Edy (who is also a Governor in my parents' province of origin and also a director of a League club) just said a bunch of nonsense". Transcription: Journalist: "The national team failed in AFF, what will the association do in the future, any evaluations?" Edy: "Journalist must behave... So the team can get good results" Journalist: "What measures will be taken for the next tournament?" Edy: "The next step from the association is... Kompas (a media group where he walked out from live TV interview) journalists must behave"
  4. Nice, now we have a new difficulty level after "bringing bible to Pyongyang"
  5. My reaction will be Life is not a video game... Don't do stupid things.... Even cats in real life don't have 9 lives....
  6. That's why some athletes and coaches began to voicing their concern.. How come you prepare the athletes win 2 Olympic golds with 45% less budget than the one used for Asian level competition?
  7. After the Asian Games, our sport budget next year will be reduced from USD 100 million to USD 55,7 million. And still we never know where it goes. While football and badminton will barely affected by this, I was concerned about the other sports which are planning to go to Olympic qualifying tournaments...
  8. Perhaps the tournament is not directly related to World Bowling but in QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup they let athletes from Catalonia, Azores, French Guyana, etc to compete.
  9. Basically IOC used to do the right thing after changing their policy about the new NOCs (we'll keep everyone who are already inside, but the new ones must follow the new rule) although I never really understand why Macau and Faroe Islands are not allowed since they've been around in the Paralympics for some time. It just IOC thing, being edgy and abruptly recognizing Kosovo. imo they shouldn't do that.
  10. Yeah basically it's weird.. All these times they refused to use "Taiwan" and/or "Formosa" (remember the 'under protest' sign from Rome 1960?) since that implies the ROC is only controlling the Taiwan Island instead of the whole China. Now they sort of willing to back off, and IOC is making a fuss about it. The reason why Chinese Taipei was accepted by ROC is the word 'Chinese' is somewhat ambiguous and have no clear sign of which area of control, as they say. Basically it's just saying "Hey we are the other China that based on Taipei!" So the Chinese Taipei is already having that 'status quo' thing as you mentioned.
  11. They said "The IOC is hoping that the interest of the Olympic Movement in Chinese Taipei will prevail over political considerations" So basically the term and concept of Chinese Taipei team isn't a "political consideration" for IOC
  12. I meant the recording got issues, not the stream. Sorry for the confusion haha
  13. Apparently the whole stream has some issues, I finally understand that both CBC and one Indonesian streaming site were unable to show the recording.
  14. No broadcast from BWF yesterday And I'm still struggling to find anything to pass through CBC Sports website.. Maybe @intoronto can find a solution? :D
  15. Oh wow this Group A competition is so boring
  16. Well they have 1 billion people and a well-organized sport system.. When China start to be interested in one sport, you'd better prepare... Indonesia have 250 million people and ....
  17. That is surely a strange way to "participate"
  18. Ah now I understand, I realized basically we were taught incomplete information in school. Thank you
  19. But I thought they just combine it to Hovdstaden (cmiiw)? So today there's no more "Frederiksberg Municipality" and "Copenhagen Municipality"?
  20. I remembered the announcement of European Mixed Team Badminton Championships host for 2019, there was something like: "It will be the first time that Frederiksberg, which is typically treated as a part of Copenhagen, has staged a European Badminton Championships". I was like "why making things so complicated lol"
  21. Yes the travel grant for those who compete in mixed team event. Brings back memories from Yogyakarta 2017, where 4 Mongolians who compete by themselves because their coach was sick (but later came after the mixed team event), players from Ghana who chose badminton over football. one Dutch player whose mother is Indonesian, and one men's singles from El Salvador who later competed in the Youth Olympics
  22. To be honest, I have to say that's pretty extreme. But it is good to see lesser known associations being active
  23. And Guyana's mixed doubles was mocked by some Indonesians because the female player simply did not move after the serve and letting the male smashing like mad Lots of mean comments towards other participants were also made by some Indonesians, who belong from a country that hasn't even won the mixed team competition
