  1. The released statement just reminding to the readers that the athletes are 'competing under protest'. No one really knows when did the Ukrainian officials protested. IIRC the website showed up the 'competing under protest' announcement in the middle of the final, which probably caused many people unaware about it. https://www.paralympic.org/news/world-para-athletics-statement-men-s-shot-put-f20-final-tokyo-2020
  2. Yeah that's why I decided to use my browser for results even in mobile... From the desktop browser I can easily navigate by clicking on the pictograms on the Competitions of [date] list to jump to a sport, then ctrl + left / ctrl + backspace to get back to the top (lack of back to top button is also annoying). In mobile just use the find function of the browser... Much simpler than the app lol
  3. Even worse in the mobile app actually, when you open the schedule tab it shows today's schedule automatically. Since too much scrolling will be required to find a certain event, you decide add a sport filter... And voila it show the schedule starts from the first day of the respective sport instead of the current date.
  4. Because the website sucks?
  5. Thrilling boccia match between Zhang and dos Santos
  6. RIP Jacques Rogge https://olympics.com/ioc/news/amp/ioc-announces-passing-of-former-ioc-president-jacques-rogge?__twitter_impression=true
  7. Totally agree. I’d even straight up say that Tokyo 2020 medal ceremony is the best one ever composed to date. (I also liked Chariots of Fire but as we know it existed before the Games)
  8. It irritates me to see some of these lucky teenagers come to the stadium to play with their phones and not even the facing the field Also our athlete got DQed for a false start, not a good start to this Sunday morning
  9. According to this article, there was a fire at an apartment a few blocks away from the venue. https://www.sanspo.com/article/20210828-3OJGQ3ODFNLAZIIWVTT5DTJJPM/?outputType=theme_tokyo2020-para
  10. Saptoyoga Purnomo created a new PR in men's T37 100m, before Mayhugh smashed that time in the next heat about five minutes later
  11. Paralympics Youtube channel updated their geo-restrictions http://polsy.org.uk/stuff/ytrestrict.cgi?ytid=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Da9rtY0OXnRQ&auth=c30a9b7719f72e3c4c56edfb70b2ddf3
  12. Also just a random info about cash bonus for Indonesian medalists: Gold - IDR 5.5 billion (USD 380k) Silver - IDR 2.5 billion (USD 173k) Bronze - IDR 1.5 billion (USD 104k) The National Paralympic Committee will receive 30% of the cash bonus of each athlete, it will be used help to fund the para-sports development and also to send the athlete for his/her next championships.
  13. opens up the medal tally with a silver from powerlifting... Guo Lingling is basically in a class of her own. Ni Nengah Widiasih upgraded her medal color
  14. Let's end discrimination with the #WeThe15 campaign, but let's also not show all the sports live.. Very nice
  15. No powerlifting stream scheduled and this is very worrying..
  16. Is there any way to watch all the table tennis matches or we have to enjoy whatever random 2 tables they selected?
  17. Lol it's an Indonesian channel so not surprised
  18. A sport apparel company made a short film about Eko Yuli Irawan, maybe some of you might be interested
  19. Around 10 medals I think, primarily from badminton (at least 3 golds)
  20. Here you go: https://aramajapan.com/news/tokyo-2020-opening-ceremony-original-plan-leaks-in-full/114631/
  21. Due to the COVID situation I lowered my expectation, but it was not actually that bad - hence I rated it 8. The political shitstorm in the organizers really affected these Games (the ban on spectators, the big influence of Abe and Dentsu, the selection of higher ups in the organizers), the only political good thing is they decided to actually host the Games after delaying it. I was very upset when I read the recently released full original plan of opening ceremony which is scrapped in favour of old ass Dentsu handpicked guy. We lost the Japan-ness in the ceremony and instead we have only have very, very, subtle Japanese element in it which won't be felt by people who are not that deep into Japanese culture. We would have a lot of Nintendo and anime stuff like the ones in Rio 2016 closing ceremony, but the whole thing was thrown away.... I enjoyed the competition from Day 1 and I think I've never been into the competition like this in previous editions. I also like the national anthems played in Tokyo, I think they recorded a new version of the anthems since the feel is very different (for example I've never heard the Philippines anthem so epic like that before). I also never expected that I will actually enjoyed baseball/softball and surfing. Karate, skateboarding, and the combined sport climbing were the new sports I enjoyed less, but hey it's still 1000x better than f-ing breakdancing. Supporting the small nations across the Games have been fun in Tokyo too. So yeah, this is what Tokyo can deliver with all the obstacles - probably not the ideal Games but it's better than nothing. Arigatou Nippon, arigatou Tokyo, mata aimashou.
  22. Looks like IOC finally understand that to keep the Games relevant to the urban guys/gals, you should share it ASAP.
  23. 1. 8/10, upwards trend from 2012 2. Surprises: Probably Indonesian men's doubles in badminton not getting any medal (not that surprising for me, tbh). Ahsan/Setiawan failing to win bronze is also a heartbreak. 3. Our goal is a gold medal and better rank, so only 50% achieved. Targetting only one gold medal and hoping for a better position in the medal table is beyond me actually. 4. Our economy is in tatters so nothing will change
  24. Rizki Juniansyah (Weightlifiting*) *provided IOC does not axe the sport
  25. Archery: Mete Gazoz denying Korean clean sweep of gold Athletics: Neeraj Chopra winning gold, and gets bronze Artistic Gymnastics: Dolgopyat winning gold Badminton: finally won women's doubles, Kevin Cordon's surprise Cycling Road: Carapaz winning gold Cycling Track: A bizarre keirin final where Jason Kenny won gold, heartbroken Cycling MTB: clean sweep in women's Diving: Tom Daley/Matty Lee wins gold Fencing: Cheung Ka Long and women's team win gold Field Hockey: men's got bronze Karate: Feryal Abdelaziz winning first Egyptian gold since 2004 Marathon Swimming: Cunha won gold, also a fish joining the party Rhythmic Gymnastics: Surprise from Shooting: won 2 medals Swimming: Hafnaoui surprise win Table tennis: won mixed doubles Tennis: Poor Novak Triathlon: Flora Duffy!
