  1. His example was bad, but I understand what he meant. Perhaps Turkey and Bahrain stand out for their purchasing, but is what other countries do fair? I remember our strong water polo team from Rio 2016. How many countries have naturalized Chinese athletes in badminton? In table tennis? Americans being exported in baseball, among many other cases. I mean, perhaps these two countries do the most extreme, but we forget that other countries do the same thing. But only they are criticized.
  2. I don't know what to say about this. I understand the athlete's personal side, but this usually only benefits the richest countries and creates inequalities within the sport. The little talent a small country can produce is lost to a superpower. Brazil doesn't have a culture of naturalization. Cases like Yoandy Leal's in volleyball are exceptions. Even our theoretical naturalizations in winter sports are conditional on these athletes having some connection to the country, such as being born here or having a Brazilian parent, which, according to our constitution, makes them Brazilian.
  3. And of course, I was just waiting for this event so I could complain again. One gold and two silver medals should be enough to cover up this pathetic performance by Brazilian athletics. Literally only three top-8 and maybe one more in the men's 4x400m in the entire competition.
  4. Bonfim has been one of the best in every competition, literally every competition, but he could never win gold. Finally, this medal came.
  5. Honestly this sport is ridiculous, but who cares if we're the ones winning.
  6. Why? They don't like surprises?
  7. Calm down. I'm well controlled. The US is always favored in competitions; it wouldn't be a surprise if they withdraw from this decision.
  8. WTF. So second world title for Alison.
  9. Dos Santos once again proved why he's one of the best. I saw a lot of people saying he performed poorly in the qualifiers and semifinals and doubting him in this final (just like they did at the Olympics).
  10. Warholm
  11. I think this is normal. The same thing happens in Brazil; our women's team is second in the world and on the podium in every competition. Naturally, their popularity has grown tremendously. In the VNL, for example, all of our team's tickets were sold out weeks in advance. In the men's competition, however, we struggled to sell tickets, and I think they only sold out for two of the four matches. This world championship itself had much less coverage than the women's.
  12. He hasn't been healthy enough for a long time. The same goes for Alan. Unfortunately, it's difficult to rely on players who will never be able to perform at 100%. And to make matters worse, he was elected team captain, and he even seemed quite relaxed after the loss to Serbia... It's a complaint from Brazilian fans. I don't know if Lukas Bergmann could have done differently, but this tournament could at least give him experience for the future.
  13. I'm not worried about our women's volleyball team; we still have enough good junior teams to support our senior team. Zé Roberto also has a project at a club called Barueri, which has allowed our young athletes to gain experience in our national league. I don't see anything happening with men's volleyball, on the other hand. A revolution is definitely needed here.
  14. Theoretically, yes, so far. But Rezende, in addition to coaching the senior team, has also been the coordinator of the Brazilian men's national teams since this year. In other words, he will oversee both the main team and the U21, U19, and U17 teams. The same goes for Zé Roberto's women's team.
  15. I'm not impressed with them. I mean, Micheletto is always spectacular, but the rest of the team doesn't seem to be playing well enough right now.
  16. I don't know what to think about the semifinals. Maybe this? - -
  17. The French coach is asking Argentina to stop celebrating because the French stars are retiring. This team is ridiculous. https://x.com/Temmzvolley/status/1968657435213590675?t=oMlOyoMgsjCrhC-Ytu3j9g&s=19
  18. Well, I hope that starting next year there will be many changes in the Brazilian team. Starting by firing whoever had the idea of putting Lucarelli as team captain.
  19. Rumors that the gold medal match between Brazil and France will be played at the airport. Muito bem
  20. This amount of upsets isn't normal. I don't remember this happening in any other sport in history. Now the is poised to take a 2-1 win over . Yes, a team that hasn't made it to an Asian championship since 1997 is beating a top team in the world.
  21. To be fair, Serbia has very good players. But somehow they never felt like a team. Even in the loss to the Czechia, they looked much more organized than usual.
  22. I'm really worried this tournament will turn into a European Championship. Japan, Cuba, maybe Brazil are out now... Iran and Egypt is unlikely to win in the round of 16. The only one left would be the USA.
