  1. Ana Satila became a meme here in Brazil during Paris 2024, with people saying that any time you turned on the TV, she'd be competing. It does seem quite exhausting, as she competes in all four events here, and they happen consecutively. But of course, I imagine that's the athlete's choice.
  2. Bruna Takahashi/Hugo Calderano are in the China Smash mixed doubles semifinals . This is the first major result for the duo, who have been making incredible progress this year. Bruna herself is also improving a lot in the women's singles. These next few years look to be very exciting for our table tennis.
  3. Brazil has 12 medals in 7 different sports!!! Excellent so far, but I hope we still can win a few more gold medals this year.
  4. @copravolleyI told you, Poland isn't invincible. Not with Komenda.
  5. It's complicated because after an Olympic year, we have a lot of teams changes. Naturally, this can lead to lower-level tournaments than we'll see in 2027. In the women's competition, Brazil, China, the USA, Serbia, and Japan had a lot of changes to their teams. Probably only Italy, Turkey, and Poland remained unchanged. The men's competition also saw Poland, Brazil, Japan, the USA, and Slovenia try out many new players.
  6. Do you remember the 2017 World League final? That they hosted the competition in a soccer stadium? Maybe we could see a volleyball match at the Maracanã again. I should do anything to go.
  7. Perhaps, but I don't see much collaboration between Brazil and Argentina happening in the sports field. And I also don't think Argentina would have the slightest intention of hosting a volleyball world championship.
  8. It's very expensive to host a World Championships or even the final round of the Nations League. Latin American countries don't have enough money to compete with these countries. Not to compete with countries like Poland, Türkiye or Japan at least. So we end up having to host less competitive tournaments like the Club World Championships or the U21, U19, and U17 World Championships.
  9. It would be interesting for Italy to host; it's a country that loves volleyball, so we'd certainly have a great competition. I'm concerned about the number of empty courts we'll see in the USA, Canada, and Qatar.
  10. Well, just like what happened in handball, Qatar should move up a few levels by 2029 if you know what I mean.
  11. Well, to be fair, it's a sport outside our reality. Most Brazilians aren't familiar with hockey, not even in its summer versions (field and indoor). But during the Winter Olympics, curling usually enjoys greater success.
  12. Because it wasn't the London 2012 tests that condemned them, but the 2013 Russian League tests. From what I understood, that was it.
  13. I don't think it's worth asking a Brazilian about this. This Brazil had no weaknesses. Poland has three problems: the setter, the libero (who is decent, but far from Zatorski's level), and Leon's receiving.
  14. I don't think bronze doesn't matter, but volleyball is still a mental sport. When a team really wants gold, it can be hard to accept a loss. Especially for a generation like Italy, prepared to win everything. Even our legendary team from the 2000s struggled to win bronze. Regarding the women's team, we were also without two starters (Ana Cristina and Nyeme). I hope that a Brazil vs. Italy match at full strength can happen.
  15. Poland is the best team in the world, but they're not invincible, not when their setter is Komenda and they don't have Sliwka. In the women's competition, Italy's superiority was even greater, and we proved we could compete with them (and we could have won if Bergmann hadn't had her worst match of the year). I don't see why you can't challenge Poland here, too. Regarding the bronze medal, well... Italy hasn't really handled bronze medal matches very well in recent years. But I think the Czech Republic has very few resources to compete, even for a mentally weakened Italy.
  16. Then Bulgaria wins and they give the MVP to Atanasov.
  17. Christenson Congrats
  18. Of course, it wasn't a complete disaster; most fans were completely disillusioned with this team before the season starts. Our young team is still more talented than most other teams, except for Poland, Italy, France, and Bulgaria. Next season, for example, Arthur Bento, Bergmann, and Darlan will play in the Italian Super League, so they'll have time to develop. What bothers me are the veterans. Especially Lucarelli. After the elimination, he made a statement, laughing, saying he thought they'd played well despite the loss... After the Czech Republic beat China, he didn't even have the decency to speak out. Our national federation hasn't announced the elimination to this day. I don't agree with acting as if this tournament never happened.
  19. A team that loses 3-0 to the worst Serbia in history doesn't belong in the semifinals. Okay, there are circumstances: Bernardo's mother passed away just hours before the match, the team captain is an idiot, and there are a lot of newcomers on the team, but it's still unacceptable.
  20. Go For the peace of all Brazilians in X.
  21. Why do I have the feeling that this World Champ will end the same way as always, that is, on the podium with Poland, the USA and Italy?
  22. Thank you Iran for doing what we didn't have the decency to do. In any case, I hope Iran wins a medal. They're very successful at the U19 and U21 levels, but they haven't yet managed to extend that success to the senior level. Who knows, maybe now's the time.
  23. I still can't accept that we missed the eightfinals while these teams from Serbia and the Czech Republic advanced to the round of 16. It's a pure incompetence. This is all because Bernardo decided to forget the two OHs who carried us throughout the VNL. I hope Ricardo Lucarelli is not the captain of this team next year.
  24. It's a policy our sports have; most of them don't like foreigners, even as coaches. Well, our national soccer team had a policy of never hiring a foreign coach, and here we are. But theoretically, in Lucas's case, I imagine they don't see it as a rule violation. For all intents and purposes, he's been Brazilian since birth by law. So would it be like working with the fine print?
