  1. Caio is a finalist in the rings. One day this man will get his medal.
  2. 4th place in Australia for Hidalgo, who won the silver medal in the world championships. A spectacular tournament for him, finishing in the top 4 in every stage except the first.
  3. I still don't understand what certain athletes did to deserve this tournament. The athlete goes to compete in a single routine and ends up being the worst on the team. Good competition for Caio and Diogo.
  4. These are different cases. Russia was banned by the IOC, which does have the right to do so. But if it weren't for that, my opinion would be the same: no other country should prevent them from competing. Indonesia is hosting this championship because it wanted to; as far as I know, no one forced them.
  5. "Sport must remain a safe space for athletes to fulfil their dreams; and athletes must not be held responsible for political decisions."
  6. It's hard to say Flavia isn't under pressure. She's always made mistakes on the beam in major competitions and never manages to perform at her best. Maybe she'll compete on the floor as well. Obviously, these will be our two medal chances here. Julia would need a disaster like Paris 2024 to have a chance. With a lot of luck, maybe Caio on the parallel bars or Nory on the horizontal bar.
  7. Well, speaking of this tournament, our ambitions are a little more modest. The most important thing is to find good options for the team. Rebeca Andrade has already said she won't compete on floor again (although I still have hopes for LA). So finding a solution for that apparatus is important, as is a good second option on vault. In the men's event, Caio and Diogo are certain names, but we'll see if the rest of the team can deliver.
  8. Two days before the tournament starts? I don't think so
  9. I understand Indonesia's political reasons; they are fair, but if a country can't host any other country for a sporting event, it shouldn't have the right to host a competition, not at the level of a world championship. In any case, Israel should be grateful it wasn't banned from all competitions.
  10. It's always exciting when a Portuguese-speaking country has a sporting success (other than Brazil or Portugal). Pretty cool.
  11. No interest in Canada or the USA?
  12. I just hope that Paraguay, hosting the tournament, will do better than just win a gold medal at home. They'll have to improve a lot even in the sports they are decent like golf and rowing.
  13. I think it's cool, we need new countries hosting these competitions.
  14. I just hope that Ahman/Hellvig don't do the same as they did at the Olympics and play poorly in the first round and face our best pair before the semifinals (assuming we beat this excellent German duo).
  15. So, only two Canadian cities will host the World Cup... Why should they build a new stadium? Anyway, these prices are ridiculous. I honestly hope it fails; otherwise, it will encourage FIFA.
  16. Oh my God. I just hope the controversies of 2014 allow us to never host this tournament again.
  17. Our U21 team won 6 medals and 2 gold medals at the World Championships. Our best performance ever.
  18. Are all these Mol players from the same family?
  19. Perhaps we could consider, like what happens in handball, allowing non-European countries to compete in the Olympics. This won't have much of an impact, because the best team in the world will still be there. Now, from the perspective of weightlifting, imagine being the best in the world at the sport, but not having the right to participate in the Olympics "just" because your country is very strong in the sport.
  20. Ramon Menezes was fired. At least from the U-20 team. The championship was worth it.
  21. A limited team combined with one of the worst coaches in our football... It's not exactly a surprise. Maybe now someone will finally ban this guy from football.
  22. This is our sport with the most wasted potential. Our national federation must be the number one enemy of weightlifting in the country. But the generation is very good, so I'm excited.
  23. I think the main problem is drawing attention away from the few winter sports that do get attention. This could happen with judo, for example. They were testing variations of some summer sports like ice swimming and snow volleyball. I think that's the best approach. The only summer sports I would perhaps consider sending to the Winter Olympics are table tennis and archery.
  24. It's difficult because only European countries and a few others probably care about the Winter Games, so I imagine they're trying to seize any opportunity to increase the popularity of these games. I think it's unlikely they'll embrace the idea of bringing judo, but I'm curious to see what ideas they'll adopt.
