  1. Today, as for medal chances, we have Ethan Katzberg in the men’s hammer throw final, Wyatt Sanford boxes against Oumiha in the semifinals of men’s 63.5kg, Andre DeGrasse goes in the men’s 100m semis (and maybe even the finals), and our women’s 4x100m medley relay will be hitting the pool on the final day of swimming.
  2. 9:20.71 for McCabe, only good enough for 6th in her heat of the women’s 3000m steeplechase, but just shy of her NR!
  3. Sort of flew under the radar, but Douglas is now in 11th after race 6 in women’s ICLA6.
  4. Great analysis, but CPB wasn’t an “expected” medal. She was one of the favourites, but even as the World #1 (based off her recent results, it’s hard to see why she was ranked as high as she was) it was always going to be tough.
  5. First Canadian man to win multiple swimming medals since Curtis Myden in 1996, incredible! (Thanks to @orangeman for doing the research, I just thought I’d share it here)
  6. I thought Warner was shoe in for a medal before the pole vault, and then disaster struck so… I’d put C1 with Vincent and Jensen with the same medal odds as the C2 IMO.
  7. Abdullaev was on paper also a better boxer, and he lost. Hopefully the at home aspect doesn’t rob him of a shot at the final though.
  8. You can add women’s 3x3 basketball to that as well, major medal contenders and they couldn’t even make it to the quarterfinals.
  9. We had a 50% chance of facing them anyways, but Mel/Brandie draw Kloth/Nuss in the knockout round I much rather would’ve preferred Duda/AP, who have been struggling this season, but oh well… to be among the best you have to beat the best.
  10. Women’s Round of 16 Barbora/Carol v. Clancy/Mariafe Xue/Xia v. Verge-Depre/Bobner Duda/Ana Patricia v. Hasegawa/Ishii Müller/Tillmann v. Samoilova/Graudina Hughes/Cheng v. Menegatti/Gottardi Hüberli/Brunner v. Fernandez/Soria Alvarez/Moreno v. Stam/Schoon Melissa/Brandie v. Kloth/Nuss
  11. Men’s Round of 16 George/Andre v. Ehlers/Wickler Perusic/Schweiner v. Boermans/de Groot Bryl/Łosiak v. Herrera/Gavira Budinger/Evans v. Mol/Sørum Evandro/Arthur v. Immers/VDV Åhman/Hellvig v. Diaz/Alayo Cherif/Ahmed v. Grimalt/Grimalt Nicolai/Cottafava v. Partain/Benesh
  12. Dan re-aggravated a back injury a couple of points in. Gutted for him
  13. Semifinals v. v. Phenominal turnaround for the US to get themselves here, after starting 0-3 they’ve won 5 in a row!
  14. Where are you getting these favourites from? United States are the favourites in both medley relays.
  15. Not sure where exactly I saw it, but I read somewhere that the remainder of the event will be completed on Monday.
  16. I agree. There’s absolutely no way we’re winning over 28-29 (I believe that was his projection?), unless one or two of Warner/FAA medaled today and the women’s soccer advanced to the medal rounds.
  17. Well, sometimes a long NCAA season isn’t always an indicator of people not being at their best at the world level, so I can see why you would value it less than you did. Take Pryce in the 400m, or Long in the 100m/200m (might be missing some names), they’ve been brilliant lately.
  18. Well this was a very disappointing tournament for the men’s volleyball team. Making it out of pool was always going to be tough, but 0-3 is embarrassing.
  19. Reverse sweep. Men’s volleyball team drops to Serbia and finishes round robin 0-3. Bad week for them.
  20. Serbia was out of the quarterfinals before the match even started, with Japan taking a set over US.
