  1. Marta Walczykiewicz also through + 0,002 behind! Stensils +0,011 behind and down to QF.
  2. Oof! That might be enough for Fajdek! 76,46m. 5th place.
  3. Kokhan could do what Fajdek was supposed to do in London 2012
  4. Hello, Fajdek can still bomb out in qualifying
  5. @thiago_simoes Thx for the explanation. As for the Produnova I meant the sommersaults would be too risky these days since gymnasts would have a higher tendency to over-rotate the sommersaults than even under-rotate them. I've read opinions Americans are more into twists than sommersaults hence they would never try the Produnova sommersault vaults themselves. Or maybe FIG wants to discourage gymnasts from doing it w/o actually banning it outright?
  6. This is where I can never catch up with gymnastics after all these years. I've heard about gymnasts having to perform two vaults from different family/group but isn't Amanar a Yurchenko vault only with an additional half-twist? So it's effectively from the same group? Unless a different entry makes it eligible? Does any woman still do the front handspring vaults (Produnova) or is it deemed too easy these days? Or too risky? With power gymnastics taking over I assume the Produnova vaults would see women tumble forward and out of the landing zone too often?
  7. But why would she do that? I thought people usually go for broke if you have such a lifetime opportunity? Would the original vault tariff won her the medal?
  8. What do you mean downgraded? Changed the vault to an easier one in the last moment?
  9. Ahem, 1984 OG weren't exactly "early" And it's no surprise it happened in gymnastics. Men's vault - 1 gold, 4 silvers (including Li Ning who lit the 2008 Olympic cauldron). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnastics_at_the_1984_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_vault Gymnastics also provided a couple of examples where a gold medal was shared by more than two people. In one case all three were from the same country to add to the lunacy! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnastics_at_the_1948_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_pommel_horse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnastics_at_the_1988_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_pommel_horse
  10. Well, so much for diversity when two people holding one stick looked totally awkward & downright stupid in some cases ( poor ).
  11. Taoufik Makhloufi has WD with injury so I wouldn't count on any medals in athletics.
  12. Yes, Baumgart has pulled out too. I assume Kaczmarek will skip the 4x400 heats but it's anyone's guess if either Kielbasinska or Lesiewicz replace her.
  13. Justyna Swiety-Ersetic has pulled out of the 400m individual event. We could have entered three women there but only Natalia Kaczmarek will race in the end. 4x400 relay takes priority (obviously).
  14. Just rewatched the vault on the Eurosport YT channel (I have to say they have one of the best experts and he's been there for almost 15 years IIRC) and how in heck Yeo saved that landing on one leg? And how did she still win a medal with it? What happened to Carey? They didn't show her vaults in highlights, I presume she landed on her backside if she did the 2 1/2 Yurchenko twist?
  15. All athletics for me - trying to catch some sleep between the morning & night sessions. I'll watch gymnastics on the Eurosport YT channel
  16. Is volleyball the only sport where Brazilians cheer for Argentinians? (and vice versa)
  17. really flopped! It seems like they can only get riled up by Poland these days?
  18. Ocon wins ahead of Vettel and Hamilton. Fernando Alonso held off Hamilton for 10+ laps after the second pitstop which basically prevented Hamilton from winning.
  19. Nope, the second best mark counts to break the tie (or third, fourth etc.).
  20. That wasn't official by the rules. Licwinko talked Kuchina into refusing the jump-off and Kuchina didn't know the rules This got a lot of press coverage back in Poland because the jump-off should have happened there. Once Kuchina settled for the shared gold it was all over.
  21. Because the rules were only altered in March 2019. In 2015 the jump-off was still mandatory (re: my post above).
  22. WA Congress in Doha in March 2019 scratched the rule about mandatory jump-off for 1st place in vertical jump events (HJ & PV). So if the athletes involved don't want to take part in jump-off they will share that scoring place (which is 1st). This only applies to high jump & pole vault. There were other rules changes in March 2019 like reverting to the old one minute preparation before attempts in technical events (in 2017 they made it 30 seconds for TV purpose but it was highly unpopular).
  23. Hungarian Grand Prix: Bottas managed to take out Norris and Perez at the wet start AND damaged Verstappen's car. Track dried during red flag and Hamilton was caught on the wrong tires on a single car grid (everyone else pitted for slicks). Ocon leads after 15 laps.
  24. Also happy to see Derwael win the uneven bars. She was #1 favorite? Those favorites winning gold medals ain't exactly common so far.
