How was the decision taken too late, one month ago it was still mainly a Chinese thing, two weeks ago there were plenty of people still mocking Italians since it was only "mass hysteria" and there were public events with 100k people going on as usual even in Europe...I'd rather say the decision was taken too early, they could have waited one month to evaluate the situation.

Much as I don't like Trump and even like the way he handles this less, talking about how to save the economy is an important thing. If you don't, and the whole thing collapses, it's going to cost a hell of a lot more lives than the virus itself. I know that is a sensitive argument for some people, mostly because the lives that are destroyed by a broken-down economy are less visible than those who are lost due to a virus, but they matter just as much.
 
Trump didn't ask for the elderly to sacrifice themselves. Trump didn't openly call for millions to attend Easter gatherings and celebrations in person. He did say he has hope it'll be possible by then (which is way too early of course, as the great Dr Fauci more or less pointed out right after him), but we have to take care - especially now - not to twist his words into things he didn't actually say. You've got plenty of ammo if you only use the things he actually says and does, don't give him and his supporters more ammo by coming up with lies and semi-lies. Just like that 'you're a terrible reporter' thing, which was a bit dumb, but all the videos shown by the major media don't even show the part before, where said reporter just drones on and on, without even listening to the answer, and then just yells right over another reporter who's turn it was to ask a question.

FINA are first to say, they would move the 2021 World Aquatics Championships to a new date, after the Olympics move.

Every federation will now rearrange their championships for next year, which is the wright decision. 

We will soon have sneeze and cough thread.

This also means we will get changed qualification systems for all sports and enjoy this whole process for another year at least something good...

Not really. Changing literally everything to 2021 would cost a lot of money. I think there's nothing wrong with keeping the "Tokyo 2020" and "EURO 2020" names, that's how these events have been called for years now.

I feel sad for those veteran players. They face much more difficulties than those younger ones and they have to keep their conditions for one more year. I know at least 5-10 Chinese athletes may lose their chance due to their age, injuries and conditions. Some young players may have better chance. Sort of unfair for their persistence.

Abe officially suggests one year postponement to IOC. I really don't like it personally. postpone to the end of the year is acceptable for me. 

Great news for people from Wuhan and Hubei province. The lockdown of Hubei province except Wuhan will be lifted from 25th March, the lockdown of Wuhan bill be lifted from 8th April. The internal restrictions are being removed gradually these days such as public transportation, restaurants. More importantly, People can finally leave Wuhan from 8th April and go to wherever they want to.

2021 is still way better than 2022.

Not really. Tests are limited, so there is a limited number of new cases that can be confirmed daily.
 
Let's say one place tests 10k people daily, 8k of whom test positive. If there are 25k positive altogether, then 8k new cases is a big boost. But if there are 50k or 100k altogether, then 8k becomes more and more insignificant.

Basically, one number rises, while the other stays the same. Of course the percentages can only go down...

Also, why has "COVID-19" part been added?
 
I do realize we like our abbreviations around here, but I'm pretty sure COVID-19 is not a sports federation.

What if the situation gets better in summer/autumn but then worsen again next winter in some part of the world...it's better to postpone the Olympics for a couple of months and then maybe to 2021 rather than missing the only opportunity to hold them.

Unfortunately I got infected through my roommate who came back from Austria about 1,5 week ago after the town he visited got quarantined due to a Corona outbreak. He and all of his friends he went on the trip with all got sick after returning to the Netherlands. Fortunately, my roommate has already recovered in full and I'm slowly recovering as well, and luckily we both only had mild symptoms. However, I've been locked inside with my roommate for more than a full week now and I'm already slowly going crazy. We can't even go outside to buy groceries or medication and have to rely on friends and family to drop that off at the door. Although I'm very thankful for everyone's support, I can't wait to go outside again in a few days when I'm fully recovered, even if it's only a 5-minute walk to the nearest supermarket.
