That’s it!!

Magdalena Andersson is Sweden’s first Female Prime Minister!!!

Guess Sweden isn't so progressive after all. Even an outdated and conservative Poland had three female Prime Ministers in the last 30 years

Now it's official :cheer: Volt join the Bulgarian parliament and have officials elected in :NED:ITA:GER:POR:BUL and in European Parliament

Now, now, from what i can find, they only got 2 seats out of 67 from the coalition :d  Let's hope they can bring some positive ideas and next time have more people at the front of the lists.

So yeah...

Today had two important votes in the Swedish Parliament.

First the vote for Prime Minister where Magdalena Andersson was selected.

But later the parliament voted for the budget.

Here, the Center Party, who have been supporting the government said that they would not support the budget put forward by the government.

Therefore the budget proposed by the opposition (the Conservatives, the Christian Democrats and the right wing populist Swedish Democrats) ended up winning.

The Green Party who were part of the Government does not want to govern on that budget. Therefore they announced that they would leave the government.
This made Magdalena Andersson announce that she'll be stepping down to have another vote.

Most likely that vote will make her Prime Minister again in a government with just the Social Democrats.

So, like Queen Christina, Sweden does not have much luck with their female rulers.

Mind you, eight hours would count as a long period in office by 1970s Italian standards.

Lmao we already had two female presidents with the first being elected 30+ years ago. If the polls is accurate, I guess we are going to have a third female president soon.

:GER The traffic light coalition has been formally formed, meaning Olaf Scholz is now the chancellor-designate.

Only two months or so after the election. We, the Dutch, see that as rushing!

Spoiler

We had elections in March and still don't have a full-fledged government, with the old one of course still taking care of things while the new one is being formed. Still not close to Belgium's records though.

    • I really hope Nordic Combined doesn't get scrapped. Actually, I believe the Winter Olympics should keep growing with new sports and disciplines (3x3 Hockey, Ice Cross, Speed Skiing, Ice Climbing), otherwise they won't feel like a true celebration of sports like their summer counterpart.
    • In fact, well, no. Hockey is extremely physically demanding, I even think it is the most physically demanding winter sport of all. I mean keeping more than a minute on ice is just cardiac. The shifts are there for a reason.   25 players rosters are absolutely justified. You must have 4 lines to keep the stamina the whole game.   Hard to persuade people who never watched hockey though, I can understand your point, but sadly, the point is wrong
    • Stats are ok, but the time she losts on the range every time... My point was that she is more likely to make us losing the olympic relay than to make us winning it.
    • I'll jump on the off-topic with an unpopular opinion - ice hockey isn't so stamina demanding to justify 25 people rosters. And it doesn't have big playing fields like football or rugby for example, where you'd require so many reserves. 15 field players + 3 goalies should be good. Or 18+3 at max. But 25 is too much imo and the constant substitutes are too much as well.
    • But her shooting surely never was horrendous, or even bad for her standards.
