The Polish Sejm has taken a great step towards officially recognizing the Silesian language as a regional language, potentially making it the second such language in Poland, alongside Kashubian.

I come from Silesia. The language/dialect is full of German traces but it's not fully German per se.

Ah, OK, it’s like Ulster Scots, Kernow & Valencian then ie peasant dialects that existed in the pre-literacy era, but which died out with compulsory schools, railway lines & national service.  Only to be reborn in the era when people discovered that there were €€€s in the  budget for regional languages.
