heywoodu 14,901 Posted May 13, 2018 #823 Share Posted May 13, 2018 The day you knew would come......people complaining about the winner being racist Of course it wouldn't matter who won, because nowadays probably there's people even finding a way to say the act of singing is racist, but on social media people are angry because 'Yellowface' won https://twitter.com/hashtag/yellowface If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Agger 1,653 Posted May 13, 2018 #828 Share Posted May 13, 2018 But Slovenia and Denmark seems to be packed with Mozart lovers as we were the only countries where the audience didn't give Israel any points.
kungshamra71 841 Posted May 13, 2018 #829 Share Posted May 13, 2018 To me the best part of this year’s final was the first 5 minutes (amazing fado from Mariza and Ana Moura - a former TISC participant!!!). And of course the performance of Salvador Sobral and Brazilian musicando genius Caetano Veloso, showing how much we appreciate our lovely brothers from South America (specially with that last sentence from Salvador at the end haha : "Bringing real music to the eurovision")
Pablita 185 Posted May 13, 2018 #830 Share Posted May 13, 2018 Very happy with Italy 5th, I hope for top ten and they done better. Maybe the performance with the sentences in different languages helped people to understand it. Italy is the only country in the top ten who sang in his language, the second is Albania on 12th place: I know when your language is so beautiful is easier to sing in your mother song About the final results I was surprised by the lots of votes Austria took from national jury (I don't understand what experts saw in this ordinary song + ordinary performance) and the lack of votes from audience for England maybe everyone thought "Great job during the singing but I still don't like the song". I don't like Sobral's attitude before and during the show keeping saying that real music is not about fireworks and so on and I'm very happy he was forced to award the only song he spoke against. Maybe when he's going to understand that music is much more than his narrow idea of it, he could become a better artist. However I enjoyed very much the show and the new system of voting that gave a thrilling end.
