European Team Championships which will be held in Chorzów (the same stadium on which were World Relays earlier this month) between May 29th-30th will take place with spectators. 7500 people will be able to attend daily.

Only seven teams this weekend - COVID positives have ruled out :UKR.  They’ll be the relegated team so everyone else can relax.

Miltiadis Tentoglou jumped 8.60 m in Athens today :GRE

WL and PB (he previously had 8.32 outdoors and 8.38 indoors). So close to our national record also (8.66)

He seemed to be stuck around 8.25-8.35 for a few years despite being very consistent. Happy that now he has surpassed that and really putting himself in a position to win a medal in Tokyo hopefully. I was concerned because he was struggling with injury but this is a great way for him to open his outdoor season (he competed two weeks ago in 100m only)

LLAF cup has started in Lithuania today and it ends tomorrow.

Difficult conditions and high winds lead to some questionable results, it was especially tough for the discus throwers, high jumpers and long jumpers.

Notable results from day 1 were:

Andrius Gudžius easily took 1st place, this time with a more modest throw of 66.23

Airinė Palšytė in her first competition after a year (which she called a training routine) jumped over 1.90 and stopped her performance, because it was too cold.

Rapolas Saulius posted a 3rd best ever Lithuanian result in 110m. Hurdles with a time of 13.77

Lastly, Zinaida Sendriūtė seems to finally be looking stronger after coming back from her hiatus, she threw 59.30 in the discus today and she said in an interview that she hasn't given up on Tokyo just yet.

:LTU LITHUANIAN NATIONAL RECORD ALERT :LTU

This is the second Lithuanian national record to be broken this year. This time it was Simas Bertašius in his very first 1500m race of the season in the Continental cup that was held today in Greece.

He bettered his own record and it now stands at 3:37.82. His biggest achievement thus far is finishing 6th in the 2018 European Championships.

This result also got him his second best Olympic qualification result with 1196 points and in the updated rankings he will be in the top 50 that make it to Tokyo.

He also plans to start four more times: the continental cup in Czech Republic, the team athletics championships 2nd division, the Lithuanian Championships and COSMA Cup.

It looks like we officially have an Olympic medal chance in women's heptathlon, Xénia Krizsán had a new PB today in Götzis, 6651. It's the current WL and with a similar or better result she should be able to compete for the medal in Tokyo.

Emma Zapletalová 55.45 in W 400H..missed the standard by 0.05 :( still not even counted in the ranking because this is her first official season and has only 3 registered races, athletes must have 5 races apparently to be counted in the ranking, I swear,  if she will have to miss Tokyo it will be really unfair and sad

    • I`m a traditionalist and I like alpine skiing competitions in the morning hours, illuminated by the sun In ski jumping this is practically non-existentthis in contrast the early 21st century (It's nice that at least there's Planica at the end of every season). There are also traditional competitions under artificial lights, like in Schladming or Madonna di Campiglio. There's no need to do the same thing everywhere as in ski jumping. Alpine skiing finals are rarely super exciting, because usually everything is clear and the skiers are tired from the long season. Finals were often canceled, so this year it was okay for me. If someone wanted a spectacle, that's what the Olympics Games or the World Cup in Kitzbuchel.

    • Baffling scheduling again. It's like FIS want to drive people away.    It's the Finals, on paper your big conclusion to the season, yet it feels like "let's get this over with". Just compare how the ATP treat their finals with this.   Ok, you want to have the GS & SL on Tuesday/Wednesday. That's fine, i've been advocating for more mid-week starts to begin with. But why, oh why do you have them in the middle of the day, on a work week.  Why aren't you having them in the evening, in prime time, when people are off work. Make it a big special event, which people want to visit and not during the day in front of a 100 fans. It's not that hard to choose a place with some floodlights.     And even this week we don't have Champion League football, so the night is free from big competition. Perfect opportunity to have alpine skiing on TV right now, but noooo.
