Alpine Skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

I genuinely wonder why Switzerland decided to kind of spread their chances instead of go with the dream team. Why not put your best slalom guy with your best downhill guy?

Who will win medal tomorrow ?

Switzerland is the clear favourite for gold with Odermatt/Meillard and Von Allmen/Nef.

It's weird they didn't go with Von Allmen/Meillard, which would have been an even more untouchable duo, barring mistakes. It's as if they opted to go for a 1-2 instead of maximizing their chances of winning.

My personal pick for bronze would be the Austrian duo of Kriechmayr and Feller.

Still, it is a very difficult race to predict, and I don't remember the slalom course particularly well because there have been no slalom races in Bormio for a long time (I'm pretty sure it's quite flat, though).

They probably figure this maximizes their odds of winning gold. And maybe of sweeping as well.

But one would assume the biggest chance for gold is by putting your best two in both disciplines together...oh well :p

Odi also won three downhill races this year and finished second twice as well. Franjo, with two wins and of course the Olympic victory, is riding a real high right now — but that gives us a chance for two medals, and maybe with Monney/Yule even more, like at last year’s World Championships. I don’t really understand why they paired Hintermann with Iten, because Rogentin was slow in the downhill.

It is time for Mickey Mouse Cup, instead of leaving classic Combined. :facepalm:Only nine nations involved, Kranjec did not want to take risk before his GS and therefore :SLO will not take part.

Agree, this is the cheapest gold medal in the Olympics winter or summer.  Maybe some of the swimming ones.

Oh this does not even come close to swimming and it's gazillion relays :d

And at least it's not inherently unfair like snowboard PGS or biathlon pursuit.
