Reigning Olympic Champion in women’s triple jump, reigning World Record holder, reigning 4x World Champion and widely considered as the best athlete all time in this event, but won’t be defending her title at Paris after suffering an achilles injury during training. Wide open for the gold medal now.

given what happened Today, I expect Chamizo and Salkazanov (and maybe also Kuramagomedov) all in the same half of the bracket in the final tournament, with a highway for Demirtas to the final (and the quota place)

don't give those idiots such "great" ideas

Fencing is good as it is (and the team events are the best in every individual sport)...they only have to recognize that now it has become one of the most well spread sports around the world, with a lot of Countries from every Continent capable of winning medals in any International competition and therefore give more space to it

    no changes, just more athletes!

Yeah, especially after those issues in the prone shooting (which were so odd, standing was fine) it's awesome to see how she fought back

I do feel for Tandrevold for really letting it slip through her hands in the last weeks, but overall I'm enjoying this fight, I'd be happy with both of them as overall winner (different than that year with Vittozzi vs Wierer, where I was very strongly cheering for Vittozzi...), so it's a win-win situation for me as viewer

and finally the total resurrection of  Lisa Vittozzi seems to be almost completed

she looked lost for the sport just a couple of years ago, missing targets from left and right (and being destroyed by media and fans, myself included )...

but Today, after the 2nd win in a row and the new collapse by  Tandrevold, she's just a walk in the park away from winning her first Overall World Cup (after winning 1 individual gold -and being part of last year's miracle of our relay- and many more medals at the world champs in the last 2 seasons)

    well done, Lisa!

    I don't agree at all

in the Olympic Boxing, at least 30% of times (and I'm keeping myself strict) the winner of a bout is the wrong one. and it's not because most people don't know what the judges are looking at when their scores are shaped.

and often, even when the score is correct/at least acceptable, among the 5 judges there's at least 1 that has watched another movie, whithout having those people thrown off the panel for the rest of their life

I think that not having the world champs in mid-August is the worst idea they could have

in september all the main championships in team sports (namely, especially football) in Europe (which, like it or not, is the main market for the Athletics World champs) have already started, they're gonna have a lot less space on the traditional TV networks (especially during the weekend, but also on prime time Tuesday through Thursday thanks to the Champions League) and above all, the economic value of the world champs will decrease a lot for those same TV networks

Ostarine is basically the "new deal" of steroids, having the same effect on human body but with less consequences on people's health

some time ago, former Italin swimmer Di Giorgio (and a few more athletes) here got banned for 2 years because of that

many supplements sold in North america are not contaminated with that, but use that substance as the main component because of its effectivity

it means that pro athletes can't claim they don't know about that when WADA has been clear to stay away from those kind of supplements

if she get away with that, it's only because of politics

Highlighting Two male Italian discus throwers today.

First Off-Enrico Saccomano who started his season of with 59.87,the reasons i think he's worth mentioning Is because he's just 22[going to turn 23 on February 12.],He has never thrown the 2kg discus so far in his first contest of a season, and it's his fifth best result ever with his Pb being 60.99,from the 2022 season in the Summer, not predicting he's gonna do anything crazy this year but already seemingly not that far off his pb at the very start of the season looks like a good sign.

And the main one is- Alessio Mannuci Who threw his new PB of 64.19 in that same season opener two days ago[he will turn 26 in early July].Previous Pb was 63.61 from mid July of last year,7 off his current 10 best Marks came from 2023.Obviously it's huge to get a pb in the first comp of the year,He's 10th on the all time Italian Men's discus list, but of the ones still competing,Absolutely looks like the number one right now.Takes second place on the discus world list for this year behind Connor Bell at the moment,I know the Germans will be having their winter championships near the end of February,Ceh will Probably compete in His Winter throwing champs which will be on the 17th,But I think Alessio is likely going to stay in the top 10 for at least February and is worth keeping an eye on to see how he progresses through the season.

athletes in good shape, it looks...

in  Lodz, Zeynab Dosso was second only to local hero Ewa Svoboda by 1/100 in the women's 60m, but she destroyed twice the National Record, clocking 7.09 in the prelims and then 7.05 in the final (the previous record, she was sharing with Manuela Levorato, was 7.14)

Lorenzo Simonelli, instead, is the official new world leader* in the m en's 60m Hurdles after he won the race in Poland with 7.50 (new NR, also)

*in the NCAA season, a guy named Trey Cunningham already ran 7.47, but his result has not been recorded by WA yet (and maybe it will never be, who knows?)

world silver medallist Leonardo Fabbri, finally, made his debut in the indoor season and won the men's Shot Put in 21m26

in  Padua, in the meantime, Pietro Arese improved the NR over the men's 1500m, running in 3.37.03, not a truly impressive time, but I think it's still worth to be mentioned

last but not least, Larissa Iapichino completed her 1st LJ competition of the winter in  Sabadell...she won, but couldn't go further than 6m62
